Moving

Thursday, June 21, sunny and very warm +27

The squash games, last night, were very good, with Warren winning most of them. I am not playing hard enough at the start of the games.
Met with the company owners at the office and determined that they would build a home up in Slave Lake for a client. The price would include the traveling costs, which will increase the house cost. The client was quite excited that this was even possible and will come by next Tuesday to discuss the situation further. He will discuss the situation with his wife over the weekend.
Susan is very busy these days catching up on all her friends and relatives. She will meet Mom and I for lunch; then we will go to the casino for a couple of hours. Then she is off to pickup her friend Maxine and her dad for supper at Louise's place. She said they have to discuss Luke's decision not to travel to Europe. He will be going to school and applying to the RCMP and the city police.
She said that Bob and Louise would not be happy about this situation since their daughter will have to travel in Europe by herself. I am not going to be involved so we will not see each other till Saturday.
I may go golfing in the evening if the weather is acceptable. Still have not heard from the new apartment people but they said the earliest possible date would be Friday.
The mens group will be meeting at the coffee shop for a little variety.
I am not sure whether I will put the personal ad into the Examiner soon. I will talk to Hector and get some more information.
Also, I will see how the relationship with Susan moves along.
I will have to give Shirley a call and arrange a coffee date sometime next week to catch up on her activities. She will be going to Toronto soon to arrange her living accommodations for the year.
The weekend, if the weather holds, should be productive as far as clients making up their minds concerning the building of a new home before the fall. The young nurse who has been coming in and enjoying the showhome, butwho wanted to build a smaller unit, is building with another builder in an adjoining are. What a bummer. Oh well, I will live.

Saturday, June 22, sunny + 24

Had a frustrating squash game with Warren. I was up for it but could not complete the shots and therefore lost most of the games. I felt I should have done better. I envisioned that I would. Have to do something different on Monday night. Because of the power we had in our strokes we managed to destroy two squash balls during our games today.
I continued cleaning the apartment and found some more things to throw out. I then went down to Commonwealth Stadium to watch the Canadian National Track and Field competition since I had some free tickets from the volunteer association. It was a pleasant evening watching the young energetic athletes. Watched a young man from Ontario set a new Canadian javelin record on his last throw, quite a rush. Turned a little cool by the end of the evening. Returned home, watched some TV and then retired for the night.
Traffic in the show home has been slow today. The deals that I have in the making should be coming to completion in the near future.
I have to go in and get a security check before I am allowed to be a driver in the World's Games. I will go down this week sometime.
Everett did not show up for the group meeting on Thursday. Warren was a little concerned.
He and Sally had supper last night and then did a light work out. They are getting along a little better but she is still not sharing her thoughts with him to the level that he would like. He said that he was feeling focused these days; that is why he as able to win so many games in squash. I still have not heard from the new rental place about my application to move in.
Mother said that there was some confusion about when and if Terry had actually responded to Simon's wedding invitation. I think I will leave it alone until someone else brings it up.

Monday, June 25, Sunday was Sunny with a few clouds, a couple of thunderstorms to the north and south,+18

I wrote this out on Sunday but managed to delete all the words accidentally. The traffic on Saturday was steady with one good prospect. I will get back to them on Monday with the required information after discussing it with John.
Called Susan to arrange getting together at the park for some outdoor music.
Warren and I played several games of squash in the morning. I managed to win only one or two out of seven. I had gone into the games with the full intention of winning the majority, but it did not happen. I was a little frustrated with the outcome. It would seem that I start the games with very little energy. I have to be more up for the first game and let it carry me forward. I would think that Warren gets energy from winning the first game. I will have to see what the outcome is when we play on Monday. We managed to break two squash balls during the games, which would mean that we are playing at quite a physical level.
Sunday was cloudy but warm. The traffic was slow but one prospect came in and was very interested in our showhome if it could be built on a lot in the northern part of the city. He said he would bring his wife in on Monday to look at the house. He wrote out his name and phone numbers to ensure that I had it. A little unusual but I will see what comes of it.
John said they sold the new showhome in Sherwood Park, with occupancy in three months. A realtor sold it for them. It is good that houses are selling for the company and they are being kept busy. I am starting to get a list of potential sales, so everything will come out fine.
Dana called last night to regale me with his exploits of escorting two French women around Toronto for two days. He survived just barely, he stated. He is in need of more money to cover off the power bill, but is working continuously with the promise of more work.
He said that Cory gave his two weeks notice and will move on to another aspect of the film industry. I am sure that Gillian will have a certain amount to say about his decision.
On Monday morning, the landlord of the new apartment called to say that my application for the new apartment was accepted and I could have the unit if I wanted. Said I would and would like to move in early if possible. We will keep in touch.
I will tell Susan when we get together again. I am interested in her reaction. The move will be a change but with the noise on Saturday night from the apartment below me I am looking forward to a new place. Now about living on the ground floor, I still not comfortable with this concept due lack of security and view. Also, driving from the place to play squash on Saturday mornings will take more time, but I will manage.

Tuesday, June 26, Showers all day, +11, good rain for the farmers, not great for flying

The squash games I had with Warren were as excellent as we have ever had. Four games in an hour. Sally came along to work out while Warren played squash. She was in a good mood, with Warren responding in kind. It seems that they are getting along quite well. Nice to see the warmth between them.
I filled out the necessary paperwork for a security clearance to be in the motor pool for the 2001 games. Now all I have to do is find out when Orientation is.
I have to drop off the anti freeze and oil that I found in the apartment at the recycling station when I can find it.
I followed up on the commitment I made to a client to find a financial institution that would get him a mortgage. I feel that this will work so we can get this house built for them.
Enough complications already!
Mark and his wife did not make it to see the show home but they said they would do it this week sometime.
I am more relaxed about the money concerns since I cannot do much about it and in real terms I am in better condition than I have been in a long time.
Fred was hired to a permanent job with a local company and is discussing financial concerns with his Susan. Quite a surprise that he would give in and take a permanent job instead of his habit of always taking short term jobs.
Thoughts- Dana and Cory have such potential and so little debts that any opportunities they explore carry very little risk. Cory should do well with just his enthusiasm.
Dana will continue to make progress by becoming more serious as he grows up.

Thursday, June 28, Sunny and warm + 24 , winds in the afternoon, winds up from Kansas, humid

Wednesday was slow, but the traffic was serious. I had an inquiry about the spec bungalow we are building from Bill, who toured it last Monday. He said that he would be back next week for some prices. My client stopped in to discuss the price of building the Cascade up north. I showed him the options along with the price, he was OK with both. We went over the changes that he would like made in the house and the related costs. He spent about 1 1/2 hours in our discussion. I will have to get back to him with the prices for the stucco, a larger garage and driveway. It was a good discussion. He agreed to make a decision next week to ensure that we can build the home before winter. He was to discuss the terms with his bank, his wife and make a quick decision.
I have a good feeling about this, even thou Gary is complaining that he will have to drive up to Slave Lake every so often. Perhaps I can fly him up there to help with the time frame. I will have to make a trial flight to see what it is like and how complicated it might be. It would be good for my flying hours and I might be able to bill the company for the time.
Spent this morning and afternoon cleaning out the apartment. I still am finding things that I have not used for four or five years along with items Cory left which will never be used. I repackaged some of the boxes Cory left when he went to Toronto. I will have to ask him about some of the other things, magazines that he left with me; if I should dispose of them. I would expect that he will never look through them again for any real information. It would be a waste of time to haul them from place to place. I will have to give the recycle company a call to pick up the sofa, chair and bed sometime near the end of July.
Everett called to say that he had to meet with a client so he would not be able to make the group meeting today.
Susan suggested that we go for a drive to a lake and have a picnic. Sounds like a great idea.
Had another great sleep last night. I seem to be able to relax a little more even if the situation has not resolved itself completely.
Fred and Sue are concerned over the events in Kelsey's life. Kelsey’s partner is acting like the child he is. He has not settled down into a father role. In fact he has gone the other way, his spending time with his male friends which included time spent with another girl. It is a hard thing to grow up. Kelsey still has a lot invested in him. It seems that Sue and Fred are staying out of the conflict as much as they can.
