Continuing On
Saturday, Aug 28, cloudy +23
Moved on Friday, Susan came by with coffee, at noon and after work to help me. Other than that great help, I moved everything myself.
What a day. I have not been this tired for a long time. During the final stages my legs and arms were starting to cramp up. I took my time and worked my way through the discomfort. I stretched my muscles as much as I could to stop my legs from cramping up.
Susan brought over some salmon, red wine and a square to make a lovely supper. We went to Ikea and purchased the bed that I had decided upon. We managed to bring home two incorrect bed pieces even with the help of the staff. The color on the head board was white instead of the wood and then we discovered when putting the bed together that the side boards of the bed were the wrong style. Susan was going to take them back and drop off the correct ones at the apartment. Two of the keys were not working. I arranged with Susan the apt. manager to get the correct ones on Saturday. I slept over at the old place and with some ibuprofen managed to sleep quite well. I returned the truck after fueling it up with diesel. Total cost of truck rental was $84. It was a good deal considering the movers would have been paid $300 plus, the delivery on the bed would have been $40 and the returns would have caused a great hassle. The sofa will be a different story when I purchase the unit.
Luke passed the first stage of RCMP testing with great numbers. He has good reason to be very proud of his achievement. He is also actively purchasing furniture to move out on his own. This will make it easier on Susan who will not have to encourage him to move out. She will miss him when he is gone but the visits will allow them to get to know each other in a different fashion.
Susan is smoking again regularly; she is quite comfortable with what she is doing. Work will be very busy for her this week but then she starts two more weeks of holiday. Holly and family are not coming down in August for a visit as they first suggested.
I have some more cleaning to do at the apartment but this will be done over the next few days. I wait for Cory's friend to pick up the box of magazines, the haulers to get the sofa, chair and bed and if they want the end table I will purchase the two units that I saw at Ikea. The color coordination will be nice. Only two items were broken during the move; a patio chair and the top to a tea pot.
Traffic should be good today, with the weather overcast but not raining at the moment.
Dan, his wife and parents returned for another visit to see and show off the house that they would like to build out at Lakeshore.
Susan's brother in law Bob is recuperating well at home after his back injury but is becoming a bit demanding, his wife is saying. I hope he takes time and treats his back with all the care he is able to.
Sunday, July 29, heavy rains started Saturday evening continuing all day Sunday, +16
Dropped by my old apartment, vacuumed and removed some of the curtains and other stuff from the bathroom and bedroom. Cory's friend did not show up for the box of magazines. I will have to call him again to come over and pick it up.
Went over to Susan’s who barbequed some steak for supper. We put together the bed since I finally had the correct parts after Susan exchanged them at Ikea. Took some doing, some red wine and a couple of mistakes on Bob's part but the bed was finally together. We brought some coffee and enjoyed coffee and sweet squares on the patio as the rain fell gently from the sky.
She left for the short five minute drive home and I retired to bed after putting up a bed sheet for a blind in the bedroom.
The rotating fan in the bedroom has three pull switches that illuminate the ceiling with the moon, stars and constellations. Quite neat. The rotating fan will be a great help if the weather gets hot again.
I slept in till ten thirty after extensive dreams about a variety of people, mostly about Danielle. This is probably a result of the move from the north side after moving to the north side to be closer to her. This closes a door to my past. I will now be able to concentrate on my new relationship with Susan. Have to give this more thought over the next little while.
Warren called this morning to confirm our squash game early this week. We will talk on Monday. He has some company in from Europe so he has to arrange his schedule around them.
Today is Sunday which means that Simon and Kati are married and Gillian can now focus her energies on a different set of possibilities, - Jason, or the grandchildren of Simon and Kati
The traffic was very heavy late Saturday, with several good potential customers. Monica wants me to put a lot on hold and follow up with more information on a house that would suit her. Bobbi and her husband would consider building with us if I can find her a walk out lot in St. Albert that is wide and long enough. Cam, the current owner of a Rock Solid home will come in this week to consider building the Artisan with a change of fireplace position. His friends Shirley and husband are serious about the Richmond when they come back from a Vegas vacation. Karen loves the home that Stoneridge built for her friend in Fountain Lake three years ago. Sawyer, Jan and Alex brought his brothers in to look and appreciate the Cascade again and come closer to start building it in Belgravia or Riverbend. The activity continues with some deals coming together quicker than the ones that I have been working on for more than a month. It would be nice to put some of these to rest and change the color of my bank account.
Monday, July 30/01 sunny + 22
I went back to the apartment after work to meet Mark who is coming over to pick up the box of books that Cory left with me. Cleaned up the place, packed some more things that were left over from the major move.
Stopped for supper at Doans’ for one last supper there, the next one will be at the south side location. Susan called, said she would drop over with coffee later in the evening. I rearranged things until she came over. We sat, had coffee, chatted and then she left to go back home, 5 minutes away. This is a different type of visiting then we had when I was over on the north side. After she left I continued to put things away and empty the boxes. I set up the TV and the music center and watched the movie Spawn that Cory had left me. This was the animated version of the real life movie that came out later. Strange movie but it passed the time.
Was up early, had coffee at Tim Horton's on the south side, drove up to St. Albert, stopped in at the land developer and picked up all the information that I needed to locate some walk out lots for Bobbi and Glen. There are some good pieces of land available for these people. I left a message for them to call me. I was able to locate two homes of the Brighton Type that Monica was interested in. I was able to put a hold on the lot that she wanted. Took some pictures of two homes that Stoneridge had built in the north of Edmonton. I will have them developed and have them available for Monica when she comes in. I returned to the apartment and cleaned the place till the two movers came from WINGS and picked up the sofa, chair, bed, end tables and kitchen chairs. They took all the items, this was a relief to me as I do not have to move them myself. Tomorrow I will meet with the landlord, finish cleaning, hand over the keys and get the deposit back for the apartment.
Wednesday, the video hook up people will come over and hook up the cable.
I should be able to have lunch with mother and catch up on the wedding as I am sure that Lillian has called to tell Mother all about it.
The people from Sunday, Bert and Debbie from Wedgwood are coming back on Wednesday to see the Carrington spec home that we are building, to talk about the pricing to develop the basement with bathrooms for each of their children. She likes the bungalow better than the two storey home that we are in at the moment. The time frame is correct, two and a half months for completion. They want to be in and settled before Christmas. This would be a pleasant and easy sale. They want to be able to see the home built and not have to make all the decisions that are necessary when a home is being constructed.
No dreams last night. The ones that I had the night before are still very vivid in my mind.
I still have not heard from World Games personnel about driving as a volunteer during the next week. I would have expected something by now but they have more than enough people to do the job. I am too busy at the moment to do any thing with them.
The weather has been terrible for flying over the past two weeks, but the forecast is for clearing over the next several weeks. I will be able to get and go flying soon.
I still have not heard from Steve N. It is would be nice to find out how he is doing in his new job. I would expect that the job may be new but the atmosphere with his wife will not have changed. I do not think he would want it to change any great amount. He is too used to the way it is.
I am feeling quite relaxed now that the move is over and there were no great problems or mistakes. I will have to replace a patio chair that was broken. One of the nicest features of the new apartment is the dish washer; I will find it very easy to finally wash all those items that require regular washing but something I would never do by hand.
Tuesday, July 31, sunny, turning cloudy in the afternoon- + 25
Finished with the apartment and turned the keys in and only had a few deficiencies.
My place is just about sorted out.
Had coffee over at Susan's place for a few minutes.
Gave the appraisal price to the Noels current home, who thought they should get more because the realtor suggested $175 to our $155. I said I would deliver the realtor's quote to John to get his assessment of the situation. This is not a "no"; just a discussion of a few concerns about the house.
I left another message for Bobbi and Glen about the information that I found out about St. Albert. Monica has not let me know about the lot in Lewis Estates.
I received information from the World's games people about driving during the next two weeks. Things are coming together.
Dana called to chat, said things are great and he has some good business news. We will talk later in the week. He said Cory is doing well and they had lunch together last week. His job situation must have improved during the last little while.
Warren did not call but I will show up at the squash courts and see if he is there.
The move is complete and I now get on with another part of my life. Susan is definitely pleased with my location and the quick access to a visit is not threatening or demanding. It will be a nice change to have people drop over for a quick visit or a coffee. The chance to ride around on a bike and get some exercise will be a pleasant change. Not much else to thing about or have feelings around.
Susan said that Susan and Fred will be going to the high school reunion on Saturday but will not be staying overnight; Fred probably has to work the following day.
Monday, Aug. 6 sunny and hot +25, clear sky
At work , feeling quite refreshed.
Slept well last night.
Saturday, played squash in the morning.
Worked all day; a slow day, except for the couple from Fort Mac, who are going to build in two years. Picked up Susan and drove to Vegreville and arrived in plenty of time to participate in the pre supper discussion at the reunion place. Fred was there but Susan was at home with a severe cold. The turn out was great, with about 40 grads and most had a significant other with them. Marvin, Rod, Fred and I had our pictures taken as the original crew, we all aged well. Emery and Elaine were there from Calgary. Even Jan and Mike from Wetaskiwin. The supper was great with John and Miranda having caterers creating the food. The discussion was lively with memories and stories continually producing more memories. Most of us ended up sitting around a fire, with Emery playing the guitar and the rest of us singing as best we could. Barry M. was there with his new girl friend. It was a great evening, with most of us departing for our rooms about three in the morning. A determined few remained up till four or five. We all gathered at the Vegreville Golf Club for breakfast in the morning to continue our discussions and some to prepare for the golf game.
Susan and I left for the city after eating and saying our farewells. Fred was to bring Susan back but did not appear before we left.
I made it back to work a little late but in time for the serious browsers. I had only one serious couple and had to battle keeping my eyes open in the late afternoon. I went home, tried to take a nap, difficult because I have no sofa. Went over to Susan's, helped her wash and wax her car. We then went for a bike ride around the area to stretch our legs.
Derek phoned to say the day had been long, the competitions exciting at the World games and they were on their way home. We would get together during the week.
This morning, woke up refreshed, had coffee and arrived at work on time.
The reunion was exciting. I learned more about people and their past, such as John I's drive to make money and become rich. Rod has relaxed but Betty is still driven and seems to be focusing her drive on Rod now that their children are grown, in University or in the job market away from home. Rod seems to be in a good place. Marvin was in fine form, with his active ways and funny comments. Jan is increasingly more concerned and involved with her children's lives, to the detriment of her own self, I expect Mike to level out her anxieties. He seems to have a good effect on her.
The weather has been great for the games, with only a thunderstorm Saturday evening to slow down the entertainment at the Kinsmen Field theatre. The competition has been of very high caliber with the medals being won by a variety of countries. Canada does not rank very high up in the standings at the moment. The citizens of Edmonton are meeting and excelling the standards for hospitality and coordination through their volunteer and organizational skills and talents. I start driving on Tuesday in the mornings for the next 7 days except on the weekends. It will be interesting to have to get up a 6:00 in the morning and then function all day.
Tuesday, Aug 7, cloudy with winds but turned sunny in the afternoon, +27
Got up at 6 to work at the World Games as a driver and I did not sleep well in anticipation of the event. I arrived with a great many other volunteers to drive the participants around the city. I had two trips during the day before I booked off to go to work. Both were people from other countries speaking their native language. They were very pleasant and polite people. The total organization is moving along well with only a few problems that would occur naturally with such a complicated event. I am to work on Friday and then again next week, Tuesday and Wednesday to drive the remaining participants to the airport as they check out.
The work day was slow with some results being available after I phoned some possible clients. One had purchased a home in the Country club and the other did not show up after guaranteeing on Monday that she would. Such is life. Wayne, the appraiser, was to meet with Noel's and appraise their home. I was a little tired at the end of the day. Made some supper, Susan dropped by for a smoke and a chat on her way to Wall-Mart to pick up a mattress cover for the new mattress that she had purchased for Luke's new bed.
Got to sleep early and woke up refreshed.
Warren still has company and went to the Games last night.
Wednesday, Aug. 8, cloudy with sunny breaks, a few showers and breezy, + 24
Went by the office, did some photo copying. One of the owners, Chris had heard from Wayne H. who will be presenting the appraisal to Noel tonight. Chris will handle the discussion and the guaranteed price on this deal.
I dropped by Ikea to purchase two end tables to compliment the bed I bought earlier. I should be paid for the Noel sale soon which will address the red numbers in my bank account.
Talked to Cory and Dana over the past few days. Dana has had some work, but the quote he gave for the one day set up is not needed because the unit is not going ahead. Cory had only two days of work last week, is short on his rent, (what else is new) but is expecting full work calls during the future work. Jason is back, setting up for the Chan movie. Both, Dana and Cory have had lunch with Jason and will be working on the unit as much as possible starting in one week. The money situation is tight for both of them, but they do not seem to be too concerned. Jason is doing some extreme games, motorcross and skydiving, that will drive Lillian to the edge of worrisome stress. He continues to require attention.
The memories of the reunion are still strong and pleasant. I should look up Marvin and have lunch with him when I have a chance.
Shirley is leaving for Toronto next week, so I will call her for a quick coffee and get her address and phone number to pass on to Cory. The time has gone by quickly since she was informed that she was to move to Toronto. The heat wave continues in Toronto and the Ontario area in general. It is the hottest this year since four years ago. The boys say it is hot but bearable; although they are both young and healthy. The bike that Cory purchased has a small crack in the frame but he is attending to it with the shop that he purchased the bike from.
Susan had lunch with the fellow that she had a couple dates with when she was trying out different guys, so she could match make him with some girl friends of hers. This information was a little irritating to me but within the boundary of good taste. She is still in charge of what she wants to do. I will get on with my life and not become too out of sorts because of it.

The Packing never ends
Thursday, July 12, sunny with clouds in the evening, possible showers + 24
I continued to do the things required to move to a new apartment.
I picked up my accreditation from the World Games headquarters in the afternoon. Nice outfits- green tops, blue shorts, blue Adidas runners, blue hat- a few pins and instructions.
Arrived early at the showhome to meet a client who came by early to see the bungalow. Her ex-partner, Larry, came by a little later with their daughter. We all went over to the show home. She suggested that the closet was too small for all her clothes. Also her daughter would have to sleep in the basement. Larry was adamant the land developer owed him a favor so he might be able to have the show home released earlier than the end of Jan 2002. He was going to make an offer after he contacted the land developer and proceed with buying the home. She said that it would not work out to build a home like this if she could not get this one. She had her own plans that would be better to build.
I do not know anything for sure, except that there is some kind of movement. A client and her friend Jo Ann came by to admire the home again. She has confirmed some contracts and still would like this home available for her at the end of Jan. 2002.
Everett said he might but his voice said that he was not coming to the mens group meeting.
Hector is away on holiday for a couple of weeks, as is Peter.
Warren is working till late tonight so he cannot make the group. Warren's work is coming along nicely, he is aware of much he is working each day and is able to balance the business activity with the personal time that he is spending on himself and with Patricia. He is off to Yellowknife next Tuesday for the week. We are to play squash on Saturday. My back held up to the games we played but it got tired at the end. I suffered no ill effects on Thursday as I expected I might. The sauna heat, stretching and activity were just what it needed.
Susan was busy but was able to relax on her outdoor swing in the cool evening air.
I received some final information about the reunion on Aug. 4.
I have not heard from Derek or Viola for a while. I expect they are busy babysitting their grandchildren or they are on holiday in the mountains.
Shirley and I will get together for supper next Friday to celebrate her birthday. The days will get busy after that with the games and my moving. I will suggest to Cory that he offer his babysitting expertise to Shirley during the first few months she is in Toronto.
Saturday, July 14,
Monday, July 16, Cloudy, + 18, calm, some rain showers
The weekend was quite turbulent with the weather hot, moist and muggy. We had severe weather with hail, heavy rains and a funnel spout touching down near Caroline on Friday. Saturday was hot and muggy but the rain held off till Sunday.
Spent the evening at Susan's, sat around talking, watched a little bit of a movie on the new DVD that Luke had purchased and then I went home. Holly and her family were coming during the next day to have a chance for Mathew to see an ear specialist in Edmonton.
I took in a great baseball game in the evening that was truly enjoyable. Had a great time with hot dog and beer watching the young athletes perform.
Played squash with Warren in the morning. I did not play very well. My mind was somewhere else.
I purchased a shredder on Friday, spent most of the day going through my files and cut up most of the accumulated paper from 7 years of storage. I packed up most of the paintings and other items that were not in the box yet. I went through the envelopes and found some letters; photos, cards and other items that Danielle had sent that expressed her thoughts and passions during the first two years that we were together. It was rather difficult and mind shaking to remember the feelings and thoughts that she expressed during that time. It took a great deal of time (several days) to get my mind around these thoughts. I even found some cards from Sharon. I managed to dispose of all the pieces of paper that I found.
Dana called on Saturday to chat and make sure that all things were OK. He was working on a film his friend was making. He was doing it for free to get some experience and to help her out.
Cory called on Sunday to fill me in on his activities, his purchases and his latest dating exploits. He is going to shave his head again because some clothing he purchased fits that style of head appearance. What strength of courage!
Susan is doing well with her family and her friend, Gail. She has been able to question Gail about what her motives are pertaining to her daughters that are moving away from home. She is talking with Gail about what she can do to change her life to accomplish more than taking care of her girls that are growing up and moving out.
Bob, Louise’s husband, is still trying to work but at a reasonable pace. His sleeping arrangements have changed since he finds it very difficult to climb the stairs. I hope he gets better quickly.
Susan said that her Fred is working full time and living out at the job site. Kelsey has moved into the home place to help things along with the new child.
Wednesday, July 18, cloudy and moist all day, with severe thunderstorms to the west, some showers in Edmonton, +21
I am getting frustrated these days. I am starting to lose my patience with the inactivity of the people who are thinking of buying these homes.
George has not shown up with his family. Larry has not contacted me or John.
I called Larry and left a message. He called back to say that Cheryl had purchased a home on Monday and would no longer be interested in our home.
George said that he would be dropping by in the latter part of the week to see me. I will see when he comes in. I called the RE max agent who is looking after Deer Mountain and will be meeting with him on Friday to get a better understanding of the land and the necessary paper work. Debra will have talked to him by the weekend so I should be able to provide him with as much information as he needs to make a decision quickly. Debra said he should qualify for the mortgage and all the monies he needs.
Susan is busy with Mathew and is very happy with the visit. It is nice to see her happy again.
Mother was in a good mood when we had lunch at the Mirabel. All the family had been in contact with her by phone, taken her out to eat and treated her well. Cheryl, her niece is well involved with her new job and feeling very comfortable with her new man. The visit by Andrew, an old boyfriend, has unsettled her a little causing her nerves to be on end somewhat.
I suggested that she be as open with him as possible, when she asked what to do. He is very aware of how unsettled she is and how she can be manipulated. He will not leave until she closes herself off from him.
I have not heard from Derek after leaving him a message in the morning. He is keeping busy I would think.
Peter is back from holiday. He, Everett and Hector will be meeting at the second cup on Thursday since I will be meeting with George and family in the evening, I am quite sure. The weather is too foul to fly so I will have to put it off for a couple more days.
I checked out the beds at Ikea yesterday and will probably get the unit from them unless I find something that I like more at Scandia furniture.
Thursday, July 19/ Sunday, July 22- cloudy, rain showers + 19
Saturday was busy with a steady stream of lookers, nothing immediate. A couple is being transferred from Regina in the next few months, looking for a child popular area with a great amount of greenery. Another couple wants a special lot and house in Lewis Estates. Angela and daughter came in to see the home and decide whether they want a two story instead of the bi-level. They will come in on Monday to write up the paper work. The lot on the corner is gone although they do not know that yet. I will pass on the information will come on Monday. Melvina came in with her ex- husband to see the house and proclaim that it will be hers. I am to call her if there is an offer on it. We can also build this one if it is sold. She has had success with her contracts coming to a successful conclusion. I left a message for my client to come in and we would discuss the requirements for Deer Mountain.
Also, I faxed a note to Adrian and Trish from Devon to say I had a plan for a bungalow that they may like.
I played a couple of games of squash with Warren on Saturday morning. He pulled a back muscle on his run to the court and was in such pain that he had to stop playing mid game. He was off to the chiropractor in the afternoon to get some help. Strange type of injury.
Spent the evening having supper with Shirley and a group of friends discussing her future and past before she is flew off to Toronto. It was a great evening of discussion, reminiscing about all the possibilities for her future. She is more comfortable and relaxed in her life than she has been for the longest period of time. The upcoming settlement of her mother's will, the subsequent opposing points of view between Nora, sister, and her older brother is causing some level of stress. She has come to terms with what the agendas of the siblings really are. She will survive this encounter even though the discussion and settlement of a mother's will has to be a difficult process at the best of times.
We had a great time, with the evening going by to quickly. Devin was still up, so everyone went home and Shirley put Devin to bed.
Saturday night was spent at the CARES BBQ out in the country. Susan was quite exhausted from her visit with Holly, family and her friend from Vancouver. She relaxed during the day, visiting a green house and then napping during the day. She had decided to take up smoking again, after enjoying a couple of packs of cigarillos. She purchased a package of smokes in the evening with her shopping but managed to lose them before she arrived home. I suggested that she not read anything into this occurrence and just go out and buy another pack. I am ok with her decision about smoking and will be happy if she is relaxed about what has happened.
I finished scrubbing the stove rings plates and rings so they look almost clean and new. It is easier to do it slowly and in steps than all at once.
The rep at Stoneridge homes in Sherwood Park said that Dennis from Slave Lake was in to see the home last week. John suggested I call him this week to find out what is happening if he does not drop into the show home.
Monday July 23, sunny and windy +26
I went over to Susan's for burgers in the evening. Talked to Luke for a few minutes, then he went off to a show. Susan was in a good mood. We went for an hour walk after supper with Dusty, her pup. Susan said she needed the exercise. I went along for the support although I am not one for walking. Felt a little angry and put out for having to walk for such a long time. But it will do me good. It will do Susan more energy if she continues to do it. She brought out a cigar and smoked it after we got back. She kept asking me if I was angry because of the tone of my voice and some of my remarks, of course I said I was not.
She shared with me that she had gone out on more than one date with some guys but found it quite frustrating, but I think a bit exhilarating. I did not handle it very well and was a little but miffed when I heard that she had stepped out more than once. Oh well, such is life. I will just back off a little and motor on.
Cory called while I was out but I expect to talk to him tonight. He was working early so had to get to bed. Dana called later in the evening. He was in a good mood and was still doing the volunteer work for his friend. He is building some good relationships that will stand him in good stead in the future. He needs some more money to make ends meet this month because he did not work that much, but he expects to start some serious work next month. It is only money.
Did some more cleaning, shredding on Monday. I called on a colleague from my old company to come over to pick up the boxes of wire. We talked about the company and flying. I suggested we do some more flying together in August when we all have a bit more time. It is really difficult for him because of the expenses of such a large and growing family. He will survive.
Derek called on Saturday but has not called back.
Warren's back is better but I expect we will not play squash again till Wednesday.
George, Angella and Lucy came into the show home in the late afternoon and made a decision on the Hampton III with a little redesign on the top floor. They signed all the papers subject to the appraised price on their home. I will get together with John at the office on Tuesday to complete the paper work for them, get the pricing on Roth's home and the correct pricing on John’s home in Deer Mountain.
Tuesday, July 24./ raining all day + 15
Changed address at the bank and ordered new checks. Dropped by the office, formalized information with John about Noel's new home and firmed up prices for John and Dennis new homes.
Spent a few minutes chatting with Susan who was having a bad day. I felt quite good about her today.
Went to the showhome, two people came by in the rain. Two more basements are being dug across the street.
Talked to Cory last night. He has been working steadily and is feeling quite good about himself. His new hair cut suits him well with the new clothes that he has purchased. He is not complaining about his work but is just waiting till more substantial work comes along from other areas of the industry.
Gillian is gone as of Monday, so Cory and the new woman have the house to themselves. He said that he spent some time with Dana over the past few days enjoying each other's company.
The battery for the computer has come in and I was able to pick it up this afternoon.
The weather forecast is for rain over the next couple of days turning sunny on Friday, when I am moving. I won't be able to make it to the exhibition this year, but it is not a great loss.
Still have not heard from Derek since he left me a message on Saturday.
Wednesday, July 25, raining all day, + 13
The battery for the computer works well; don't have to boot up the unit every time I have to use it. Slow day, did some more shredding, cleaned the bathroom and put some stuff in some boxes.
Derek called to say that his friend passed away from the cancer that had consumed his body over the past two years. Last year at this time, we were talking in the patio at Derek's new home. Only one year.
Death has come close over time but not in such a methodical fashion. The funeral is this coming Saturday.
I sent my condolences. I will have to tell mother.
Cheryl is going off to Vegas with her new guy.
Gillian called in the morning before she left for Austria. A young lady is occupying the room upstairs. She is going to Art College in September. Mother said that there was no good reason for a person to take art as an occupation since there was no money in that area. Gillian seemed to do all right.
The landlord from the new apartment called to set up an appointment to pass on the key so I would have access to the unit. I will drive over on Thursday to have a look at the place again and get the key. I will try to stop at Ikea and purchase the bed so I can pick it up on Friday with the rental truck. This will allow me to save some money on the delivery charge. Susan is getting quite excited about my move, perhaps more than I am.
I booked a room in town for the evening of Aug. 4, Saturday for the reunion.
Warren's back is still not quite in good shape, so we are going to postpone playing squash till next week. He has some relatives in town for a visit, starting this weekend. Oh, summertime visits.
The emotional feeling of Susan dating other guys has subsided over the past week. I tease her about it but I should really express myself clearly to her. Perhaps I will have the confidence to do this sometime in the future. She is still wavering about buying cigarettes since she lost the package that she purchased at the grocery store.
Since my friend Susan has not called to get the directions to the High School reunion, I would expect that she and Fred will not be going to the do. Unless they have the directions they will do what I would have done and just drive around. If they leave earlier in the day, not something Fred would do, they will be able to eventually find the location.
I am comfortable about the agreement with Noel and do expect everything to proceed along nicely. After the appraisal, John and I will meet with them to confirm the selling price. At that time will be able to give my invoice and get paid. It would be very nice if another deal came together, the Sawyer sale, so the invoice would be a memorable payment. I expect that it will come about in a timely manner.
Thursday. July 26, Cloudy in morning with sun and rain showers in the afternoon +22
I continued to put stuff into boxes.
Susan came over during her lunch break to have a smoke and see the place for one last time. She said that she would drop over during her lunch break and help me move some of the lighter stuff.
The afternoon at the showhome was quiet with a return visit from Dan, who has a lot reserved in Lakeshore, he dropped by to get the dimensions of the Cascade for a possible construction in the spring or earlier. He will bring his wife to see the house again during the weekend.
Only Hector came to the group meeting at the show home. Peter is in Saskatchewan, Warren had meetings in Spruce Grove and Everett had some business he was unable to leave. We had a good discussion about dating and finding someone new in his life. He said that Annette was spending time with a fellow at a campground up north with their children. His company received some money and a study they created will be published in a scientific journal. This will lend some credibility to what they are doing.
I am ready to move tomorrow. I expect the weather to be sunny but cool. I will take it easy and spend the whole day moving so that I do not get too tired out.
I should have time to stop and get the bed from Ikea so that I have some place to sleep.
Hector is spending $400 to have an agency introduce him to women that are compatible to him and his way of life over a period of 6 months. He believes that the value of the money paid will create a commitment on his part and on the part of the women who offer themselves to the agency. I look at it as a large expense, but then I fly and get only a emotional high feeling out of it. I guess that he is expecting an emotional high out of the women that he will meet.
Different thoughts and expectations.
I still have not received any information from the World's people as to when I will be needed as a driver. I would expect that because of my different schedule, I will be slotted in at the last time possible. There seemed to be a great many volunteers to fill the necessary positions. The time has passed quickly and August will soon be here.
I played a couple of games of squash with Warren on Saturday morning. He pulled a back muscle on his run to the court and was in such pain that he had to stop playing mid game. He was off to the chiropractor in the afternoon to get some help. Strange type of injury.
