My Life is picking up speed

Sunday, April 21 Sunny and warm+11
The spring weather has arrived and with it a better attitude from the customers.
Still getting to know my new laptop computer and how it works. Am trying to register the windows XP program but cannot do it manually, I will have to wait till the notice comes up on the screen and use it to gain access.
The email program works well for my communication with Cory, Dana - Susan and the other people that are connected. I am progressing well in my learning curve with this new technology.
The last week went by quickly because of all the tasks I had to accomplish.
I am writing this on Tuesday, April 23.
The meeting with Jimmy D went well with the agreement written up. We are now progressing with the initial blue prints. These are to be done within 3 weeks.
I received the initial blue prints for Wilson and will be meeting them on Wed. The deposit will be made to move things along so we can get started building the home by May 17, so they can take possession of their new home by Nov. 11.
The weather last week turned from winter to spring over the weekend but today has turned windy, cloudy with the temperature around -2. Sweater time again.
Cory is working and receiving more responsibility from Greg. He is enjoying the workload. He is frustrated with Dana and his friends because they are two completely different personalities.
Dana worked a little last week. He went to the dentist to start getting some work done on his teeth. This will start at the beginning of May. My appointment for cleaning went well with another quick visit in Oct.
Peter is back from his trip to the warm waters of Mexico. His scuba time was excellent. Having been back in Edmonton and around Linette for a week he is now back on the plan to make her “get it”. They told Warren they are still intent on building a home but Warren suggested that they come to terms with their lives first. I think they want a diversion now so they do not have to address the problems they have.
Jeff told Warren that he purchased a home in Toronto, renovations are on the way, and the family is moving up there ASAP. He is selling all his and her holdings in Edmonton to make a clean break. The question of Nora is still up in the air.
Hector is happily involved with his lady and is planning a trip in fall to the Caribbean.
Everett is continuing to find work for his company and enjoy his clearly defined relationship with Louise. Susan is moving to her new place this week end. She is all packed and has completed all the inspections and meeting with the lawyers. The place is 98% the way she expected it. She has purchased some interior items to personalize her new home.
My car will be ready this Friday, after three weeks of repair. It will be nice to get back to a vehicle that is mine. The rental was nice but really just a small compact economy vehicle.
I am struggling to find out what is happening with the DVD rewriteable discs that I have and why they will not stay rewriteable. I will have to get some advice and instruction but I am not getting too worked up about it. Warren should be able to help me.
Our squash games are returning to the high level that we experienced before he took the break and went traveling.
We both injured ourselves on Monday. We did it to ourselves. We will survive.

Sunday, April 28- windy, sunny +8
The week has gone by quickly because of the nice weather.
I concluded my doctor’s appointment on Friday. All is well although I have put on a few pounds in the last two years. I know that because my belt is tighter. I will have to eat fewer bagels with cream cheese and move toward more cereals and healthy foods. I am going to do some blood and heart tests in a week or so since I have not done any for such a long time.
Susan moved into her place yesterday with the help of all the family. I dropped by after work to have a drink and talk to her friends and Anne.
Bob and Louise left with Louise driving Bob home after a good night of drinking. Their new house is coming together nicely. Susan is very happy with how her place has worked out and is excited with her new life style. Dusty, the puppy, because of his health problems, is the only concern now.
Luke has moved into his girlfriend’s place nicely and is enjoying the successful end of a school year, a new summer job and the love of his woman.
Cory and Dana have been sending me information and pictures over the week to ensure that my computer and email is working nicely. This certainly is a different medium.
The financing is still not complete for Wilson but only the final approval for the new home, which is to be done this week, needs to be completed.
Dean and Natalie came in to do a home with us in the Grange. The only challenge will be getting a lot in the Grange. We should be able to do the lot exchange with Greenboro Homes. Wilson’s friend, Joyce and Jim came in today to do a wish list for their new home in Lewis Estates.
The men’s group has been doing well.
Hector and his new lady friend have split up. She wanted a little more space than what Hector was giving her. He liked her so much that he wanted a permanent relationship within two years.
Peter is letting Linette have her way in investigating the building of a new home.
Warren and I are still playing squash in spite of injuring ourselves last Monday. We played on Saturday with my finger giving me a lot of pain. After properly taping the finger the pain went away. I managed to break my racquet without hitting the wall. I took it in and they will be giving me a replacement when it comes in. Warren is still progressing with his computer programming work and feels success is just around the corner.
I picked up my car on Friday all new and nicely painted. It was nice to get it back and drive a sports car. Now for some new tires and a windshield and I will be all set for summer.
Some golfers were out on the course behind the Showhome today. The wind must have made it very cold.
The grass will not be green for several weeks with golf a good month away yet. I will have to get flying this week, since there were no planes available last week. I did not look very hard but the weather was not that good either.
Gillian has decided to come out for the family reunion in the first week on June and stay for about 3 weeks. She will be traveling from here to Calgary and into B.C. to visit people.

Sunday, May 5, Windy, cold, some snow -6
Winter has returned with some of the coldest spring weather in a long time, some cold records are being broken this week. We keep being promised spring time weather but I expect that this will be a cool and wet year in Alberta. Spring planting conditions are not good, although southern Alberta had some snow fall that will help the moisture level with the cold temperatures helping to control the grasshopper problems.
Had my blood and heart work done on Friday, with a follow up visit to see Dr. Tilley in a couple of weeks. The nurse was nice to me and used a sharp needle for the blood sample. The week has gone by in a regular fashion.
Wilson’s bank is still getting itself together with the financing coming together on Friday so a deposit should be available early this week.
I paid the income tax so the payment from Wilson will be a nice relief.
Cory helped me a great deal with the computer this week and helped explain the different configurations that are available for storing information.
Dana had a bad ache from one of his teeth with an infection the problem but it has set him up for going to the dentist and getting some major work done. He will be tapping into the medical fund I have set up for medical emergencies. I discussed with him the reality of making this job work or looking at something else. He will have to do a reality check soon.
Cory is busy doing his graphic art car designs on the computer for Greg and just loving it. He got hooked up with a new lady this last week and has been happy about it. He said something about her being 34 and divorced a year.
The squash has been very good with Warren. The finger requires taping for the games and today my hand is still sore from our Saturday game but it is a great deal of fun. I have changed my eating habits a little to include more cereals and less bagels and it seems to have had a small effect already. The doc says that I am in great health but am carrying a few more pounds than necessary.
I know that.
I dropped in to see Steve N at the ADT office and have coffee with him. I talked to Beth, Tom and a few of the other people at the office while I was there. Had a pleasant chat with Tom and caught up on a few items of general interest. It is a little easier to speak with him but we both know that things did not end well. His position was difficult and I ended up making the correct decision, but it was still an upsetting event.
Peter was all happy with Linnette’s decision to see a professional counselor over the next several months. Peter was still concerned that he was kept out of the loop by her until she had made a final decision to see the professional. He will have a hard time not interfering with her movement through the therapy.
Hector is comfortable that he is now moving on with his life after his lady friend made it clear that she wished only to be friends. He is so driven to create a permanent relationship with a female in the near future to fulfill the need he has. I expect that there is someone out there to help him achieve that desire.
I spent some time with Susan last night. Celebrated her new place with a good bottle of champagne and watched a movie. Dusty, the dog, is fitting right in at the new place. Dusty is not barking as much as Susan feared with the walks around the block in the morning and evening taking care of the bathroom concerns. Susan is getting her exercise and Dusty is getting to see a totally new world. Susan’s brother, Patrick, is retiring from teaching this year and was celebrated at a very complimentary function on Friday night. He will go on now to do things that are of his making to fill the time that he has available.

Sunday, May 12, Mother’s Day, sunny, warm, +14 clear
I was able to get the lot that Dean and Natalie wanted next to the lot that was incorrectly priced. They were happy to be building in the area that first attracted them. We just need the blue print to be able to sign off on the agreement.
I have been able to arrange a pre construction meeting with Wilson’s this coming week with John.
I called Gillian to chat with her about her visit in June. I am coordinating with Cheryl for Gillian’s sleeping arrangements and car transportation. Cheryl is busy and having some difficulty with Darryl but she says that it is just life and she is moving on with it. She was going to a golf game with him on Friday and suggested that we get in a game soon.
Saturday night, Fred and Susan came over to see Susan’s new place. We had a good time together catching up.
Fred and Sue talked about their holiday in Hawaii and are looking forward to going to Vancouver Island in July when his current job is over. He hopes to travel and work in Sarnia and possibly Mexico with the company that he is with. Sue still has the cold and nasal problems that have been with her for the last month. Ryan, Fred and Sue’s son, is back from Montreal taking a course for the next few months required to enhance his teaching degree. Kelsey has moved back in with Jonathan while his parents are in England. Things are moving very slowly in that area. She is not taking responsibility for growing up.
Saturday morning I was awakened at 6 in the morning by an Edmonton city police man telling me that my car had been hit by a drunk driver. There was minor damage to my car that I had parked on the street overnight. Quite a way to wake up. The back bumper was cracked.
They arrested the driver and he has insurance. I have to pick up the report today or Monday and then decide whether to get it fixed through the insurance company or even report it. I will talk with AMA on Monday.
Cory and Dana have been in contact with me through the email. Dana will be going to the dentist this coming week to start work on his teeth.
The couple from Hanna came in on Saturday to start the process on a new home again. They sold their home and have tried to build up north but have not been successful and now would like to have something built in the area. The house plan they have will not fit any of the lots that are available. Jimmy D came in and we made some changes on the house blue print we had put together. I need the plot plan to show him how the house will sit on the land. I will probably drive up to Edson with the plans when I have them. It will be a nice trip..
I tried to fly on Friday but the plane had a potential problem and I could not go up. Perhaps this week. I called Steve N but he was not able to some along. Dean, my first flight instructor, was at the club on Friday so we chatted for a time.
He is doing well and flying as much as he wants. He is looking very good and seems happy. It was nice to see him again.

Sunday, May19 Windy, wet and cool +9
The week was steady with Monday starting out with a change of clothes after I spilled a cup of coffee down my front in the morning.
Progress was made in Jimmy’s banker, talking to Chris and arranging for a deposit to be made. Jimmy came down on Sunday to meet with John and myself to complete the house design. We are on to final blue prints.
Brent and Neil made the second deposit on their home to move it along to a blue print stage. The blue prints for Danilak will be coming on Wednesday.
Monica was all excited about the Cascade in a Bungalow style.. She put a lot on hold to get some stability and will come in to see the prices next week.
Susan has rearranged some items in her condo this week. I had supper with Holly, Jason and Mathew on Saturday and then we watched some TV.
I took mother over to visit with Susan on Friday. She enjoyed the visit.
On Thursday, mother and I went to the citadel to use some of the Christmas tickets that I had given her. We saw a play based on “Who Has Seen the Wind” by W.O. Mitchel. It was very good and brought back the energy and wisdom of live theatre.
Hector met Warren and I at the squash courts at Grant Mac to play some squash. Warren’s friend Ron and his girlfriend made an appearance also. Hector is a very good player and just needs some new shoes and racquet to get back into the game. Playing him will give Warren and I some variety in the different style of the game.
Peter was in Calgary so was not able to be at the group meeting. It was a humorous get together with a great many jokes and funny concepts pursued during the time.
I went flying on Thursday out to Lac La Biche. The weather was fine with sunshine throughout the flight. The heat rising off the ground made for some turbulence but it was great. I will have to get out next week again.
Dana was to have some dental work done this week but he has not contacted me to say how it progressed. Cory has been silent also but I expect to hear from them tonight.
Mother is angry with Cheryl for not calling and asking her to go to the birthday party she had for Curt. Oh well, just life as it is. Cheryl is busy and will be able to get past it.
I will have to get some tires and windshield for my car this week when I get paid for Jimmy and Brent. Sure do need new tires. I would not go on a long trip with the ones I have at the moment.
The landscape is finally getting green with the small amount of rain we are receiving.
I still have not heard from Shirley. She should be just about finished with her course in Toronto. She may be coming back in July, I would expect.
I had a massage with Odette on Friday but we did not talk much as I wanted to concentrate on the massage and the relaxation that went with it. She has been traveling with her fellow to the Island and had just come back. I hope she had a good time and enjoyed the traveling.
Susan had a discussion with her about the upcoming trip when she had her massage. Odette did not discuss how it went. Odette said that talking to me confused her but not in a bad way.

Sunday, May 26, Sunny, some wind, +20 quite lovely
The week was very good. I received payment for Brent with the bank sending money for Jimmy D.
I met with Dean and Natalie on Friday to get the OK on the house plans. The down payment will come this week sometime. I need the address for the home to allow Dean and Natalie to be able to give the information to the bank.
I paid off the gold card. Now I have money to pay off the RRSP loan and start putting money in the RRSP for this year. I am able to put in 26k approx. Bought some tires for the car and will look into putting in a windshield this week. Time to pamper the car for a while, possible CD player in the next month for the car.
I had AMA look at the bumper and will get it fixed if the other car owner’s insurance will cover it. I have still not received the report from the police but AMA has requested a copy.
I passed on a small referral fee to Susan for her help with Jimmy D but she was reluctant to accept it. We spent Friday together and had a good time.
Saturday, I spent with Derek, Ray and Alex (golfing buddies) at the Two Hills golf tournament. We had a good time in spite of the weather. It was windy all day with some rain, some hail, some cloud and some sunshine during the golf tournament. We have not golfed very much this year and it showed. My new driver is not working well at all so I may have to look at changing it to a more flexible shaft. I will talk to the professionals at the golf shop this week and see what they say. I will look into getting some custom clubs made this week to find out what they can do and what they will cost. Do not really need new clubs but might treat myself.
The feeling that I have money to spare and do not have any debts is a strange and different feeling. It is not something that I have experienced before and have to come to terms with the different position in the financial world.
The year has been very good. The year is only five months along with the potential to make a substantial amount of money this year. We will see. Anything is possible.
Dana is still having a difficult time getting work and I am troubled by my reaction with this turn of events. I talked to Susan about it for a bit and feel a little better. He has gone to the dentist last week and is comfortable with the work done. He is to go on the 29th for more work. His lady friend is putting the charge on her credit card and he will pay it off if he gets enough work. The work will have to pay for his rent and other items or else I will cover it for a while. He has not called to talk this week which might mean that he is working many hours and is unable get to the phone or computer.
Cory has applied at Mountain Equipment Co op for a job on the climbing wall. He will get some experience and training that will allow him to do some work in the mountains if he comes back. Quite an enterprising fellow. He is working with Greg although the number of contracts is slowing down for the summer.
Peter is feeling better now that Linette has been going to a therapist and they are taking walks together to spend time together. He is not aware of her control of the situation. Everett was not at the group but we are concerned that he says that all is perfect in his life.
Hector was with his kids but Peter says that Hector is very concerned with the way his oldest son is not maturing quickly enough. He has been to a family doctor that is helping to coordinate an appraisal of the child. Warren continues to work on his project and is quite up this week. His support staff is all in line and helping the projects move along quickly.
I was able to do some shopping this week, buying some clothes and a watch for myself. I booked a car for Gillian’s trip here but will have to confirm the price with her today.

Monday, June 3/02 sunny with a few clouds/ some drizzle but warm +21
The week went by at a steady pace.
Only a little traffic. The next door Showhome has shut down and moved to Spruce Grove. Several other Showhomes have closed leaving only two of us on the block.
Raj, Ben and Pat came in during the week to separately discuss homes. Raj is shopping around and is enthusiastic but is grinding for a price. Ben is in the price range if he wants to stay in Lewis Estates ,otherwise it will be hard to find a lot for him.
Pat Thomas, is something else, if she comes in tonight I will get a better feel for what she wants. She dropped by Saturday to confirm that we controlled lot 56 and she would have to build with us. She called late Saturday night to have me put a hold on it and said that she would be in on Sunday. She then said she would be in on Monday night. These things are yet to happen.
Dana was not sure he would go to the dentist again; he may wait till he is on the union contract. I said it was up to him but not to get into trouble with his teeth. They were not going to fix themselves. He had worked several days. He was in charge of blowing things up and was quite proud of himself. He still needed some money to make his rent. I do not know what to think of this. It is a good investment I feel.
Cory called to say that his birthday was great with his girlfriend. He was talking about moving into a new place with her. They are happy and in love. He is doing some more work for Greg and has done a day on the movies. He expects to spend some time up north at a cabin with his new found girlfriend. Things are moving along nicely.
I had a great golf game with Cheryl on Wednesday and enjoyed the time with her. I hopefully helped her golf and we talked about many things. I played a round with Derek and Williams on Friday and shot an 82 on 18 with my new clubs. I tried out two new types of clubs from McGowans during the early part of the week and settled on one set at a lesser price than I had expected. The sales person was very good and provided great service. I arranged to exchange the single driver that I had purchased last week for one that seems to be better. I have yet to try it out. I am stuck with it and will have to learn how to use it or give it away as a gift if it does not work. I will try to get it to accommodate my swing.
Life is good.
Had a good time with Susan this weekend. She is really enjoying her new place and the interest from her friends in her new lifestyle. Her birthday is coming up on June 15. Dinner and something else is in order now.
Gillian is coming on Thursday in the morning. Terry has agreed to give her a car for the time she is here. I will pick her up, have lunch with mother and then take her out to Terry’s place.
Hector came out to play squash with Warren and myself on Saturday morning. It was a good change and provided us a chance to play different styles.
The week coming up should bring some rain to help the grass and trees although it is not in the forecast yet.

Sunday, June 9 Sunny with clouds building for showers in the evening, +21, calm
The week has been a little exciting,
I was trying to be helpful to the other sales rep. client but frustrated her by showing the client the homes in Leduc. The clients do not wish to use her but John said they would have to for the first little while.
My Pat Thomas showed up and gave a hold cheque for the corner lot and is coming in on Monday to do a wish list. Very busy woman and brings a great deal of energy with her.
Gillian came in on Thursday. I picked her up, had lunch with her and mother than took her to Terry’s place. Terry was not home at the time, so Gillian had a nap before he arrived.
I went back to Edmonton for the men’s group. Jeff showed up and was quite forthcoming on his recent activities. He has invited all the people that mean something in his life to his place next Saturday for a party. I would not miss this for most anything. Jeff seems to have a handle on his life, but Warren says that he really is still quite confused. I wish him the best.
Susan enjoyed her birthday present, a massage and a day of pampering and was very appreciative. I got to see Mathew again. He is a very pleasant young child.
Luke was very successful at some Mall selling of Calvin Klein perfume. He has quit the city job and is working at Capital City Savings.
I arranged to have a windshield put in my car this coming week. I was able to get an oil change done when I went over to the dealership on Wednesday. I will be getting a new stereo system from Audio Sound this week also. I think that a CD player would be a pleasant addition to the car, quite nice to listen to when I am traveling in the mountains. I am arranging the trip to Fairmont to see Derek in July with a stop in the Banff area.
Raj has come in every day this week to work on his ideas for the house and make some changes. John and I will start working on the plan on Monday. I may do some designs on my computer today.
I talked to boys earlier in the week.
Dana said that work is picking up with some possible contract with Much Music group. Cory is making noises about moving into a loft with his girlfriend. Dana just rolled his eyes and made a “brotherly comment” when I told him about this event.
I have had a call from Joe saying that he was still waiting to hear about the lots that are coming available across from the golf course. It is a great feeling to have these calls coming in. I will have to start deciding where I want to place my money during this last part of the year to use it effectively.
I am negotiating with John and Chris for a commission rate increase for the homes sold above 10 and 20. I discussed it with Chris and put it on paper so he could talk to John about it.
Irving came in this week and requested a raise because he feels that he is worth more. I said ok since he is still making me money. He does not know that all I have to do is not have him work one day during the month to get his total income to what it was before. It is still a good deal.

Sunday, June 16, sunny, clear, +28
Saturday was clear and hot +29, just about a record.
The week has been a busy one. Monday was paper day.
Tuesday I had the car stereo put into the car, golf on Wednesday with Cheryl, Thursday I had a new windshield put into the car and Friday I went golfing with Ray.
Saturday, during the day was work with a birthday dinner for Susan at Thornton court and then to a party for Jeff at his place.
Gillian was busy with mom and shopping during the week. We went out to Von’s with mother for supper on Thursday,
Had an argument with Andy Ho about the front door and whether he should pay for it. I had to make a point with him about his need to ask for more and more.
John met with Jimmy D on Friday to deliver the blue prints and get any new ideas from him. This was nice of John as I was golfing and could not make a meeting later in the afternoon. I met with Pat Thomas in the late afternoon to give her the new drawings and discuss the process of the agreement. She will be coming in on Monday with the final decisions to do up initial blue prints. The lot diagrams and layouts for the new Potter Greens area still are not out but the machinery is working on the land.
Annette came in to talk about the property for Joe.
Peter and Linette returned the blue prints that I had left with them.
This week I will have to get the candle holders I ordered for Susan’s birthday.
The party for Jeff and Victoria was pleasant. Everyone was there from the group and we all got to know one another.
Dolf, a friend of Jeff, was someone who was interested in our mens’ group although he is involved with one himself at the moment.
Warren said some very pleasant things about our relationship.
Susan said I was correct in my assumption on Victoria’s actions re going to Toronto. Jeff and I had a short chat before I left. He is moving very fast and under a great deal of strain. I don’t know whether I will contact Nora or not. I will probably allow her to contact me.
Hector continues to improve as he plays squash with Warren and me. His arm is getting some tendonitis and he will have to get some medication to control the pain.
His coffee date with his blind date went well. He said that she was older than he had expected.
Gillian and Mother went out for lunch with Jim, Marion and Daryl at the Red Lobster on Saturday when they were in the city for a short. She said that they talked about the new religion they were involved in. Jim wants to become a disciple. Marion said very little.
Terry is getting along well with Gillian and will be going dancing this weekend.
Cory sent me a new t shirt for father’s day. It has writing and slogan’s on it and is quite delightful.
I was able to book lodging at Calgary and Radium for July. I was also able to book some golf at Kanakas country when I was passing through to see Derek and Viola.
This planning is getting out of hand and might become a habit. It is nice to know that everything is reserved and I don’t have to rush and be unsure of what is going to happen next. The upcoming week should be a little quieter and less costly. I have just about purchased everything that I wish for now.

Sunday, June 23
Work continues at an even pace.
Gillian had lunch with me on Tuesday, talked about the family and what she is learning from her visit here. She is helping Cheryl redesign and finish her back yard. I gave her a few ideas that might prove to be useful. Cheryl is coping with the extra visitors but is encountering some problems at work from her accountant.
I had a good series of games of squash with Warren but managed to lose even tho he was using an older racket.
John and I are meeting with Raj this Thursday, finally.
Gillian is keeping us busy with her activities and suppers, but all in all it is enjoyable. She and mother went out to see Kurt’s two boys and spent 5 hours talking with them. Gillian came back with pictures and many questions.
I played golf with Ray and won although I did not do as well on the back 9 as I had hoped. I drove a green 290 yards on the hard pan that is Fort In View.
Met Gillian at Mother’s after and then spent some time with her at Cheryl’s after stopping off at Susan’s. Played squash with Warren on Saturday and won a hard fought series. Warren was disturbed by what Peter had said about not wanting to talk to Sally, though Warren was welcome to visit.
Susan was busy on Saturday so I spent some time at the Casino and managed to make enough money to buy a new battery for my car. It is giving up the ghost and I had to get a boost this Monday at Tim Horton’s. I am concerned about it starting tomorrow when I take Gillian to the airport.
Pat Thomas came in with a revision on her plan. We are fine tuning the design.
The meeting Raj, Kari, John and I went well with John suggesting that they go to see the Surrey in Sherwood Park and we can work a plan off that unit. They were happy when they left and will be in contact early this week. John made a suitable impression on Raj.
A younger couple who live in the area came in with his parents and will be making an offer on the show home this week they said, for an October possession. It might be a little early but I should have managed to sell as many lots possible from the few that are coming on line in the new area. We really have not had that many offers on this show home and I expect the boys to take the offer if it is at all reasonable. Jeff is in Europe at the moment on holidays. The paper on the new lots is still not available so I have had no reason to contact the people on the list.
The weather has been very warm over the past few day, with the temp in the + 30’s.
I have not heard from Cory in over a week, I expect that he is busy with his lady friend.
Dana called to say he was all right and expecting a big contract to do special effects in Sask., in the fall from a friend of his. I hope so. This will give him some creditability in the industry and he can get to see his mom. His teeth are all fixed and he is starting to get the bills for them.
My reservations are all complete for my trip and I am looking forward to the time off.
Irving is happy with is wage increase and will fill in when I am gone.
Derek is up on a fishing trip with some friends from Vegreville this weekend. He has never been on such trip and was looking forward to this time spent up north. They were driving and then taking a boat. No flying in the trip, so he was happy.
The weather reports are for thundershowers tonight. The forest fires are mostly out at the moment but we had a fire in the ravines around 97th street and 94th Ave. that claimed a million $ house that was in the way. Houses that are made of wood burn very fast it seems.

An Interesting Year that is unforseen

Jan. 5/02 Saturday, Sunny, +2, nice warm winter day
The boys returned to Regina on Friday by bus.
The week they spent here went by quickly with everyone enjoying themselves. Dana and Cory have turned into two very nice young men.
Dana was happy to return to the quiet of Regina and then to Toronto.
Cory was anxious to get to his new apartment in Toronto. He has many plans for this coming year. Dana enjoyed meeting Susan again; she was impressed with him I think.
She worked two days with the activity tiring her out but she was able to relax in the evening. Luke was coming back on Friday night from his trip with Amanda to the south.
I took the Piper out on Friday for a flight to Lloydminster that extended to North Battleford. The winds were strong from the west during the day, I was in Lloydminster in one hour so decided to continue to North Battleford to see the country side. I was moving along at 145 nm/hr. going east. When I turned around to return, the speed dropped to 73 nm/hr and the time frame back to Edmonton was 2 hours and 20 minutes. The fuel on board became an issue for me. I made it back but kept an eye on the fuel gauges.
Flying on a wing and a prayer took on a totally new meaning.
This experience was a reality check on the proper use of fuel and time, I won't forget next time. The landing was great in spite of the strong side winds. The plane touched down like a charm. It was a great day. I missed the boys during the afternoon, but Dana called to say they were in Regina and ready to do things in the evening.
I talked to Susan, during the evening; her doctor said the toe is healing well with the pins to come out in two weeks. She is doing well, although a little tired.
Work was busy with a good traffic flow because the weather was sunny and warm.
My couple came down from Fort. Sask. and are interested in building in the new area.
I should have a comfortable sale record this year considering the number of people who are coming through the home and expressing an interest in building with us.
A pleasant couple said they would be back.
It is a nice way to start the year.
Mr. Noel dropped by with a checque for Chris. His son is also in the film industry in Toronto.

Sunday, Jan 6/ 02, Wed. Jan. 8/- warm +5
The weather continues to be very warm for this time of the year, sunny and plus 5. The temp should be down to about - 2 on the weekend with a possibility of snow later in the week.
The boys should be back in Toronto by today. Back in their own world with plenty of work to do. Cory will be happy to move into his new place. Dana back to his solitude and work.
Susan and her foot are healing nicely with the pins to be removed around Jan. 26; just in time to help Holly and Jason move into their new home. Their whole family has come down with the flu. They are all feeling very miserable.
Work has moved along well, except for the postponement of Kolla's building.
John is meeting with another of my clients this evening.
On Sunday we will meet with Cliff and his family with the blueprint. They are nervous but it will go well. They may want to postpone till they see the unit in Leduc but that is their choice. I talked to another client and he is going to see his banker on Thursday to get the money requirements settled.
Sawyer is still on for March/April and the building of the house they want.
I have had a few other couples interested in the showhome and perhaps building the Surrey in Lewis Estates.
I took my black leather chair apart to repair the swing mechanism that has worn out. I am not able to get the identical parts but I will be able to put together some parts from the Nuts and Bolts store so the chair can be used again without the side to side movement that is evident at the moment.
Mother and I are to have lunch next Wednesday. From our conversation she seems in a good mood although she continues to have her opinion on the things around her.
Cheryl called to invite Susan and me to a party she was having on Saturday night but with Susan's foot we were unable to attend. Cheryl is determined to fly to Hamilton to go to the Hostel workshop and spend a few days in Toronto to visit with Gillian.

Thursday, Jan 10, Monday, Jan 14 Cloudy -11
Winter has returned to Edmonton. The morning was crisp with the sky blue. Good time to wear a leather coat.
Dropped by the office where John and I resurrected the deal with Kolla, who though about canceling last week. I talked with Lou on Saturday and he decided to redesign the home a little and faxed the info to us. John was able to incorporate this new design in the home without too much of an extra cost. Later in the day Lou told John to redo the plans and proceed with putting the land on hold and scheduling the digging. It is nice that the deal is back.
On Sunday I told Cliff and his parents to stop trying to build the home in Lewis Estates if it is causing them such a great deal of concern. I will keep in touch and see what kind of land is available in Donsdale. They know that the price will go up because the land will be more expensive and the Cedar Shake roof will cost them more. I will show them the home that is being built in Leduc as the next showhome. They will build with me in the near future, I am certain of it.
Susan is getting frustrated with the kids at home and the discussion she had with Gail and her kids. It is good that the living situation will change at the end of the month. With the pins taken out of her toe she will be able to walk and get around much easier. She wants to start doing physical things to get back her energy.
Work is starting to get busy with some serious people making their appearance at the show home. Things will move quickly now.
I had lunch with Derek, discussed the RRSP season, the accident policy and how everyone in their circle is getting through life.
I hired a fellow by the name of Irvine to sit at the show home on Thursdays. He was in on Saturday to get a feel of what to do and where all the papers are located. He will be good. His friendliness will hold him in good stead. Although it was a little nerve wracking to be in a position to hire someone and have them work for me; it turned out to be a pleasant experience when it was complete.
Derek is feeling well although he still has the problem with condensation within his house during the winter time.
I am meeting with Nora to catch up on her activities over the past months. She sounds quite good and happy. I sense that she is past Jeff at the moment, moving on in her life and starting a new direction.
The boys are doing well with Dana working a little last week.
Cory moving into his own apartment; the first time that he has lived and owned a place by himself. It should be an intoxicating time and feeling for him. I hope he can truly enjoy it. He is a little young to fully appreciate exactly what is happening.
Dana will help Cory get through the time more easily than he can imagine.

Sat. Jan. 19, Thursday, Jan 24. Sunny then a winter storm in the evening -6
A sad day today; Peter Gzowski passed away today after a short illness. He was suffering from lung complications brought on by years of smoking. Known as “Mr. Canadian” from his broadcasting on CBC he will be remembered as a tireless fighter for literacy in Canada. He gave up the smoking habit a year ago after smoking since he was a teenager.
The week has been cold with the temperature dropping to -25. It has snowed a little during the week but the large storm is coming tonight.
Susan drew up the papers to put an offer on a condo this Monday, with the realtor coming over to appraise her home on Wednesday. The purchase number they are talking about makes her comfortable. The builder of the Condo, who does not have a good reputation, will have to make the decision that everything Susan is asking to be included in the condo price is acceptable.
Jason and Holly are to move into their new home next weekend, if all goes well. The current tenants have made a request to delay the move till Feb. 15 but the kids are going to decline the offer. The time has come to move and Susan has to do something to get her home ready for showing. She still has a little pain and some bleeding from the removal of the pins. She is feeling better and sees the end of several difficult situations. Work is constant for her but she sees it as one of the small issues in her life.
I presented her with a book to write down her feelings and thoughts - starting with the statement "Today, I purchased my new home-” She seemed quite pleased with the item.
Cory and Dana are doing fine in Toronto.
I shipped Cory the items that Greg had left for him in Edmonton.
Dana was applying for some work other than the film industry to tide him over.
Cheryl spent the weekend in Ontario, going to a Hostel convention, then to Toronto to spend some time with Gillian. Jason took her out to a night club for the evening. She also had lunch with Simon. Cory was able to see her for a short time. Cheryl said it was good for her to get away and enjoy the freedom that was there. Daryl was good about her trip and was easy with the situation when Cheryl talked to him. She needed the event to confirm to herself that she still can be desirable and can have fun in a different setting.
The traffic has been very slow except for the weekends. The payments are coming in, with the Kolla home being finalized next week. I am having a little hard time with the slowness but the telephone traffic with potential customers is very good. I have to decide when I want to purchase another laptop computer. This one is giving me indications that it is getting tired and would like to rest for awhile. I will have to talk to Christine M about what they can offer in comparison to the Staples advertising.
I am meeting with Derek about the RRSP's, the sickness and accident insurance that he wants me to get. I will not be able to get all the documents that are required for income tax till the Feb. 28.
I am off to play squash tonight with Warren.
Everett and Hector could not make the meeting tonight. Peter is still in Australia so we postponed the meeting till next week. Warren is off to Europe at the end of the month till Feb. 12.

Sat. Jan 27. / Sunday, sunny but cold -25 daytime
This has been a busy time for Susan and her family.
They listed her house on Thursday, with 5 groups of people showing up in the evening for a viewing. She was not finished painting and had not taken the garbage bags out when the first people started coming in. Everything, including the dog were picked up and delivered to her Dad's place. Ten more groups of people were slated to come on Saturday with another half dozen to come in Sunday. She had an offer on Saturday from the Friday people. The listing was at $147K but she left the guaranteed price paper on the table, the other realtors saw the paper so she had an offer of $142K and countered with a price of $144K. She will have a few more offers today and tomorrow but she is tied into the first if the people continue. The people in Sherwood Park have stated that they are reluctant to move out at the end of the month. I am tired of these imagined problems and I am not interested in what Jason and Holly are going to do. All I know is that the lawyers and realtor is involved already.
Susan is happy about her new place and is starting to personalize the look of the rooms with the cabinets, style and colors. It is a very hectic and confusing situation at the moment and I am standing back from the whole situation.
Played squash with Warren on Saturday, a quiet game which he won after I won all six games on Thursday. He is a little preoccupied with his work discussions.
I spent some time with Derek at his office on Friday, buying some RRSP’s, finalizing the accident insurance and such. We had lunch. He was to go to Calgary but the weather has turned bad there so he will postpone it till next week.
I stopped by Henry Singer's and purchased some slacks that were of interest to me.
The traffic at the show home was very good on the weekend. I have generated some good leads that will lead to sales. The people are still enthusiastic about building with the interest rates low and prices going up only slowly. Feb. will encourage even more clients to make some decisions that have to be made to allow occupancy of a new home before fall.
The Rock Solid Showhome had an inspection in the SAM awards for best home over 2400 sq. ft. It would be very pleasant if the design won an award. The name recognition would be a favorable plus to Rocksolid and company.
Everettl is still too uncoordinated to find time to come to the meetings. He is falling into a situation that was his greatest problem back in the Oxford days.
Jeff had lunch with Warren. He was looking rough around the edges with still a great deal of confusion and indecision. Warren told him to make a decision, one way or another. Enjoy the two women he wants to be with and stop feeling guilty and frustrated. Nothing will come of the advice with Jeff since he is not in any position to do what is necessary to change the position he has chosen in his life. Nora will be of no help to him either.

Monday, Jan. 28-Sat. Feb. 2 sunny and warm, +4
The week has gone by slowly. The weather has turned normal with temperatures around -6.
The Canadian East has received the worst weather with ice storms, snow and blowing wind.
The boys without a car are doing fine with public transport.
Traffic was good.
Derek and wife came in, put a hold on one lot in the area, switched it and have produced a wish list for a meeting with John and myself on Wednesday. Greg M asked for a quote on a home of his design.
He came in on Wednesday to pick up the numbers and said he would be back.
Irvine worked for me on Thursday, with John having two appointments with my clients. I had the day off, drove around and checked out some lots in Donsdale and talked to a salesman at Hillview.
Susan has been busy getting her house ready to sell; getting material for her new condo and helping her daughter and family get ready to move. She spent the day with Mathew and Louise while Luke, Jason and Holly moved all their possessions to the new home. She came over to my show home and brought coffee on Wednesday. We chatted for a while and she enjoyed the silence. We were to have lunch on Friday but time did not allow it.
I met with Derek to complete the transfer of money from Sun Life to Manulife.
Terry and Merci came in for lunch with mother (her 84 birthday) on Wednesday. Her birthday was actually on Tuesday but Wednesday was a more convenient day for us to have lunch.
Cheryl called to say that her boss was giving her a hard time again and that she was ready to move on. I suggested that she at least complete the year at the place.
Warren left for Europe on Thursday for a week to see his family.
Only Hector showed up for the meeting on Thursday. Everett was too busy again. Peter said that all was well in Australia and he will be back soon.
Hector and his new lady friend are getting along nicely without too much pressure. He is holding back on his desire to become intimate with her too quickly.
I spent the time doing things for myself this week; bought some clothes, picked some others up and spent the week enjoying the quietness.
Susan’s hectic time will come to an end today and things will start getting back to a serenity that she needs to make some good decisions.
The boys are fine as of last week.
Cory is really enjoying his new place and the freedom that it is bringing. He is involved with the sister of Dana's new girl friend.
The economy continues to be strong with this year looking great in the home sales area.
The Tyco stock that was at $62 last month has fallen to around $30 this week. A friend knowledgeable of such things suggested that the company would split into 4 different entities. It is not good news for the guys at the company who have invested so much of their paychecks into the company. The long term return will be good but the short term is not a good idea.

Monday, Feb. 4, Tuesday, Feb. 5 - sunny/clouds warm +6
I arranged to have some flowers delivered to Susan at work to brighten up her day. She was pleased. The day went quickly for her. She spent some time with Janice, a home decorator, looking at samples for flooring for her home.
The silence in her home is very appealing to her; since the crowd moved out into their new home; Susan has been able to have her bath, with time taken for her mental well being.
Work was good, with more discussions with Andy and his quote from Hillview taking up time on our quote. I spent the morning at the office doing a comparison of the two builders. It was a useful exercise in getting to know the different prices and quality of material.
Andy came in during the evening and did up an offer to buy the lot and build the home. I will take it to John and Jeff if Andy comes back with the checque to hold the lot. We are only $6000 apart but with some added items that might make it hard to be closer. It will happen I am sure.
Elsie from Fort Sask. called for some more information about building in that area. I faxed some info to her and will hear from her in a short while. I think they have sold their home and are ready to build.
I was interviewed for the accident and sickness plan that Derek has put together.
The Tyco stock has taken more of beating since last week. The specter of the unusual accounting practices stemming from the Enroll collapse has affected many of the companies that used the same process. The stock is down to $29 as of noon today.
The teachers strike started on Monday with neither side moving at the moment. It makes for good press and keeps everyone doing unusual things. The parents are unhappy but the kids are having fun with the warm weather and the new holiday. Everyone should benefit from the change of pace.
Warren is still in Europe and I have not heard from Peter yet. He should be back today or tomorrow, Hector said.
I have been sleeping better, although I let this negotiation with Andy get to me. The process is so slow it seems. No real highs and no real lows. When the deal is signed, I cannot get high because things have to be put in place. When the conditions are removed it is a ways down the road and John usually does this process, so I have no reason to be excited. When I get the checque, oh well, the money still is not covering the bills that I have or the tax that I will have to pay.
Dana's inability to get work and pay me back has been weighing on me. I have to struggle to be at peace with the situation. It is just a loan that he will repay when he is working and making good money. I believe that he is trying quite hard to get some employment and get back on his feet. He was feeling quite frustrated with the current state of events.
All things in good time.

Sat. Feb. 9, Monday, Feb 11 sunny, warm and windy +3
The week went by quickly with a great deal of activity at work. I wrote two more deals and continued with my work with Andy.
It is coming together slowly but I have had several headaches that have made some of the time unpleasant. Susan came over on Friday after not being available for a week, we watched a movie but I had a headache so she went home at midnight. I felt bad.
Warren was gone so I could not get any exercise in playing squash.
A couple that I had dealt with last year has decided to complete the deal for building a home.
Susan sold her home on Sunday night for $143K after enduring several weeks of people walking through the house and disrupting her life. She is a little more relieved to have this behind her. I worked all day Friday, (on my day off) to put together the information I needed for the several deals that are going on. The time off this week will be appreciated. Kolla's blueprint is finally done and delivered to him. I should get a paycheck from it before the end of the month.
Went out to the casino on Saturday night and enjoyed the evening, playing cards, some other games and watching the activities of the fellow players. I would look forward to a small trip to Vegas in the near future perhaps later this year.
Susan R’s birthday is this week. Fred continues to be totally absorbed by his job. He should be able to make it down to celebrate her birthday. The Susan’s are going out for supper this week.
Peter got back from Australia for the Thursday meeting. Hector and Everett were not around so I was able to learn firsthand from Peter about his great two months on holiday. He and his family had a great time and were sad that the time went by so quickly. Peter had picture and some video that he will make available to us at a later date. He spent three days Scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef. Warren is a little jealous about the trip but is happy for him. Peter told Jennifer that they must be in love to have spent so much time together and still be talking.
Cheryl's birthday is today, 38 I think. She is not home; I would expect that she is out celebrating.
The boys are OK. Cory is busy with Greg's work plus odds and ends of work that he is creating. Dana is busy with his new girl friend and might have a job as a waiter soon. The film industry is slowly getting active and will be producing some work. Dana is commenting on the closeness of Cory but I think he likes that he is so close to his brother, if only to borrrow some money. They will work it out on their own I expect.
I talked to Christine M. who said she will be putting together some information about a laptop. She is getting married this weekend and then going on a week honeymoon. I think she has other things on her mind.
I am looking forward to seeing Susan more often now that the other activities in her life have come to an end and will not be taking as much of her mind and body.

Sunday, Feb 17, Sunny, warm, +7
The week went by at a steady pace. I completed a couple more agreements with lots becoming available in Breckenridge. Put two lots on hold for Scott B and Carmen M. Carmen was a referral from Scott, a banker, which should prove to be a good source of clients. He is Darren M’s banker and will work with him and John to create a home this week. Andy's paper is moving along. Elsie M and her wishes are becoming evident and I will talk with her on Monday to move the ideas along.
I had a great massage from Odette while we discussed ideas and issues pertaining to self fulfillment and personal direction. Procrastination is one her issues. She is uncertain in many areas of doing things for herself. She is reading the book I gave her for her friend. She has the idea that she may benefit from the book more than he will.
Wise woman.
My brother, Jim, called to say that he was in town for Friday night, so I picked up mother and had supper with him. He discussed his and his wife’s (Marion) new found knowledge of faith healers and all the ideas around belief and energy. Mother was a little surprised with his new point of view but I expressed interest. Jim talked a great deal about the benefits that he and Marion had gathered from the experience. He is a wise fellow and will be able to balance the new knowledge he is acquiring.
Grace was quite surprised and distressed by the energy and the statements that Jim made. Oh well, that is something that she will have to deal with.
Susan has continued to make decisions about the colors and items for her new condo. She is getting a great deal of comments from her friends about her choices; most of the time these comments are not causing her any concern.
Gail, her neighbor is feeling a great deal of grief regarding her daughter moving out and the loss of control that Gail feels. She will find other ways of justifying her intrusion into her daughter’s way of life and the decisions that are made. Sort of sad. John, Gail's husband, leads a quiet way of life and is not involved with the excess energy that comes off of Gail.
The men's group met on Thursday at the Second cup.
Warren was back and looked forward to getting involved in the meeting.
Peter was back to share his story about his travels to Australia.
Everett was in attendance and sharing his feelings about work and his personal issues. He is struggling, not sleeping, with the successes that are occurring in his work life. Louise has successfully made the transition to not working at a full time job. She does the company books a couple days of the week and is enjoying the time spent with Everett.
Luke is arranging a ski trip for the family in the next month.
I have had to confront a deep hidden thought that I should not be as successful as I have become in the last short time to make sure that I do not sabotage the direction of my conscious and subconscious mind. It is an interesting problem. I have been grinding my teeth a little at night and have not slept during the week on certain occasions. I feel it will get better and I understand what I am doing.
The days are good with all the guys enjoying their successes.

Sunday, Feb. 23/02
Saturday, April 13 - Sunny, + 11, spring has been here for a few days.
The past week has been a difficult one. I had expectations of the abilities of other people, assumed they would conduct themselves in a certain fashion to achieve the goals that I expected and they did not. Putting the clients, Rhea and Georgette together was not a good idea. Their energy just got out of hand and created a situation that excited Chris. I discussed certain items about the Weber’s that he felt out of control with and continued to get excited all week. John was a steady influence all week.
I was ok with Susan all week but acted cool toward her all week, not as punishment but to protect myself from any unexpected emotional let down. My eyes gave me trouble all week by watering with my body feeling very tired. It seems to be better today after playing squash with Warren and spending some quality time with Susan. She is ok with what is happening and continues to package herself for the move to her new condo at the end of the month. She is quite excited with the move and her new life.
Luke has moved in successfully with Amanda and is happy.
Holly is with another child, hopefully a girl, due this fall. Susan would be very happy to have a grand daughter to pamper. She could outfit her with a new girl wardrobe.
Warren is in a good mood, displayed by beating me in squash on Saturday. He has some meetings with Stantec this week, two meetings that he knows of. They want to get involved with him and his program, to what extent he does not know but it has done a great deal for his confidence. He was in an upbeat mood. I was still tired and gave him a good game not a great game. Monday will be different.
I received my new laptop computer this week and have been getting to know it. There is so much to the unit that it will take a long time to be able to use most of it.
Chris has allowed me to get and receive an e- mail address through Rocksolid. I will have to set it up this coming week to get into the electronic swing of things. I rented a DVD to watch on the unit when it is quiet.
My taxes went well with my accountant doing the necessary calculations for mother and myself.
We ate in town and had a terrible, heavy meal. Not much light food in the town.
Mother suggested that Terry might show up but he had not made an appearance by the time we were ready to leave. Mom and I had a good discussion about her life in the late 30’s and early 40’s when they moved from Midway to the current family farm location. She seemed to enjoy talking about her early years.
Warren said he and Jeff had lunch during the week. Jeff is selling his homes and commercial property in Edmonton, along with his wife’s interests and moving to do business in Toronto. He has purchased a home and is starting to get people to renovate the property. Warren did not know whether Chris’s one week stay in Edmonton would entail any contact with Nora. I would think, probably so. I will give her a call in June (6 months) to catch up on her life.
My car is still in the shop. They said it would be two weeks before it was repaired. The rental is nice but it is just a small run-about car for the city. I was looking at a 3.2 TL Acura 1998, fully loaded for about 5 thousand more than I could get for mine but have decided I do not need the expense at the moment or the larger type of car. Mine is just fine. I can find better ways of using the cash that is coming in.
My massage with Odette was great, the discussion and the work out. Next month will not come soon enough. She is trying to change her life and is continuing to read the book that I gave her. She will be successful I am sure.
