My Autumn trip
Sunday, Sept. 15, sunny and warm a beautiful fall day +23
I lost all that I had written up about Susan and I not being together for a while when the program crashed and I had not saved it. Oh well.
Susan and I had coffee on Friday evening. I re keyed her door locks so one key would work all the locks. We chatted for a while and then I informed her that I would not be seeing or talking to her for a couple weeks to let this confusion settle. She was taken aback a little but accepted what I said. Susan and her sister, Louise came by my Showhome on Saturday. They stayed for a while and then went on to some other show homes.
In the evening I went to an NDP supper that celebrated 40 years of the Alberta New Democrats. I talked with and saw a lot of people that I have not met for many years.
A long time friend, Ross Harvey was back from BC. Don and Noreen, long time party faithful were present. It was a pleasure to see them again, especially Noreen with her red shoes. Rhona and Allen Eng were in the audience but left before I could talk to them. I sat next to Nick Duchinski, one of the first CCF MLA’s. He was elected and represented the Willingdon area for 8 years. It was a pleasure talking to him and hearing some of his stories. One of his sons, a lawyer, was at the table also; this boy could use a sense of humor.
Viola and I chatted a little and I asked her advice about the situation with Susan and I took her comments to heart. I told her that Susan did not realize that I did not go back to a relationship after it was ended and I did not see a future with Susan with what has happened.
I golfed with Derek, Alex M and Ivor Dent on Friday morning as part of the event. It was fun and I did quite well. I scored better than Ray. He will try to get retribution at the golf game we have coming up on Wednesday.
I booked a golf tee time with Derek at the Northern Bear for the end of the month. This should be fun. I owe him a game so the day will be on me. The course is in only fair shape with the lack of rain. It should still be better than we are.
Left messages for Cory and Dana on Wednesday, Sept 11 to let them know that I was thinking about how they were feeling on the one year anniversary of the tragedy in New York. Cory emailed back and said he would call Sunday. He said he was busy till then. Dana did not respond.
I talked to mother a little about the event and she ended up talking about two young women that were killed in a traffic accident north of the city. We are to have lunch on Wednesday.
Cheryl is busy. Her life is still hectic. We plan to have a golf game this coming week.
Traffic is slow but the deals I have, are coming together with a couple more agreements to be concluded in the near future.
I had a great meeting with Shuster and his lady and will do a deal with them when the new lots appear in Lewis Estates.
Things are moving along and I will deal with everything as they appear.
Sunday, Sept 15, Tuesday, Sept 17, Sunny +18
Three days past and no contact with Susan, getting a little easier but I still miss her. I hope that she is fairing well and comfortable with her new direction.
Traffic is quiet with my making contact with a client to move the situation along. I contacted his banker and suggested she call him.
I had lunch with mother at the Casino for a change of venue. She went to play the nickel slots after a good conversation during lunch. I played a little 21; won some money which I left with her. She seemed pleased. She said that Cheryl was not happy with Kurt and had written him a letter to help him along. Cheryl is having some people over on Saturday for son’s birthday. I will drop by after work and pick up mother.
Warren and I had a good game of squash. He won but it was a good game.
Sunday, Sept. 22 Cloudy windy, +9, cool fall day
Fall is coming with the cooler temperatures.
Cory said the weather has been warm in Toronto. He and Dana have been working quite steadily for the past week. He is feeling good about himself and now wants me to send up his red tool box and the items inside of it. Dana may have called last night but I missed it.
Gillian called on Friday but it was late and I was not around.
I attended Cheryl’s son’s birthday party last night after work.
Mom was already at the party.
Lesel and Kali were in town from the US for the weekend. Cheryl’s Mom and friend, Carol, were at the party also. Marlon was present for the evening. Lesel was going to meet up with Terry and Merci in Calgary on Sunday before they flew out on Monday. Lesel is looking quite good and seems happy.
Cheryl mentioned to mother about Susan so I had to explain the confusion that she is feeling at the moment.
Susan sent me an e mail about the clean up job at her condo and expressed that she was unhappy with the work they had done. So be it. I will talk to her in about a week, although I do not know what I will be saying. I doubt whether this will go any where. She will probably call soon.
Went to Ocean Sports store and talked to Grant about the SCUBA course that was coming up. We talked about the sale that was on and what I would need to dive in different parts of the world. I took a break and called Warren to see whether he had time to come down to the shop and look at what was available. We meet at four in the afternoon and by five thirty, I had spent $2300 for the equipment and signed up for the course that is to start on Oct. 1. Warren said that I saved about $1000. I am looking forward to the course and doing some diving in the southern warm waters next year.
Lesel said that she has done some diving and really enjoys it. I am excited about trying out something new. What else is money to be used for? It should be an exciting time next year.
The traffic has been slow but constant over the past week. The meeting with Norman and Janelle went well with the final condition off by next Oct. 1. Al Beaudoin says our lot is to shallow for the house he wants but wants us to look for a lot in Clarkdale or Heritage Hills.
The Melcor lots should be made available on Monday or Tuesday next week. I will be able to call Layton and Shuster with the numbers and design. John has given me a price list for the new year sales effective on Oct. 4/02. It will be about a 5% increase.
Warren and I had our squash game on Thursday evening because he was going to Fort Mac to see Ron over the weekend. He will be back on Sunday for our game on Monday. His work has slowed down and the waiting game starts in regards to his computer program and investments. He will be taking some consulting work in Eastern Canada to make some money. He will be doing about 5 weeks over the next two months.
I am missing Susan but not nearly in the same way that it was with Danielle. I am not sure how she is fairing. I do not think she will be able to work herself past the religious difficulties that she has created. I am sure I am not willing to go back with the new circumstances.
“Life has to be lived and dealt with on a day to day basis. Living with no expectations is quite a relief.”
Warren and my conversation with the young women that were playing squash was refreshing and humorous both during our interaction and after when Warren and I had supper and discussed the event. Some of Warren’s comments about the women in particular and in general are quite funny.
Peter and Georgette are creating a fight with the land developer in Donsdale that they are not going to win. All they are going to do is frustrate themselves and not end up with what they want.
Sunday, Sept. 29 Cloudy, Showers +11
This week went by uneventfully.
Played squash Monday and Saturday with Warren and had some good games.
I spent several hours reading the material for the SCUBA course. It is interesting reading. The course starts on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
I went golfing on Thursday with Derek at the Northern Bear followed on Friday with Ray at his Fort in View course. Both days scored about 85. The Northern Bear course is very nice and easy to play. It would be expensive playing it many times but once a year would be nice.
Finally got some information for the Melcor lots in Potter Greens and sent the info to Layton and called Shuster. Gordon called back to say they really needed a walk out lot but thanked me for the time and effort since I did not have access to any walk out lots.
I booked my flight to Toronto and passed on the information to Dana and Cory. They both have been working as much as possible and will continue to do so because of the number of films in the area.
Cory was sounding very good and is enjoying what he doing. Cory took SCUBA in high school and has his pool ticket but has not done any open water. He said he really enjoyed the feeling of the water environment.
Cheryl called on Saturday to chat but I was not available. I will get back to her today.
Warren is starting to get more aggressive in trying to close the investors for his program. His mentor has passed on his thoughts on how Warren should get people to get more involved in the program.
Peter has done nothing more about his lot and house, but perhaps he is not saying anything.
Hector is very involved in the organization that helps the children that have changes in their life.
Had some traffic on Saturday, with a couple coming in to put lot 4 on hold and obtain some pricing on a house.
Craig came in with his realtor. He is progressing on his plan to sell his home and build a new home. I am not sure how to tell him that lot 4 has a hold on it. I will let things play out as they may. I will talk to John about the situation tomorrow. We should have a response from Norman about what package he wants to go with for his new home.
Was able to meet Susan for coffee in the evening at Tim H. Time and events have not changed from her view. I would have been disappointed if they had. Her conviction on moral grounds is very strong. I do not presume to understand but she is serious. This is not something that she wishes to give up but she must do it at the moment- “since nothing is forever”. She is having as difficult a time as I am but this is reality and we will do what has to be done. It is a shame but…….
Cheryl called to say that she and Daryl are having a little bit of disagreement but after talking to her; she was able to put some perspective on the situation. I suggested that they were getting too close to be comfortable and not giving each other enough space. He is starting to smother her and she is feeling a bit overwhelmed by the total situation and is backing up. When she does this he gets concerned that she is leaving and tries to move closer to her, causing her to be more concerned.
Dana called to say his ankle is OK; he is continuing to climb the indoor stone walls and doing well. He is working continuously with no end to the work in the near future. He is in a good mood and is enjoying himself.
Sunday, Oct. 6, Raining, +8, cloudy
Went to the first class for the SCUBA lessons; very exciting and successful. Did the class with about 10 other people, some older, some younger; Two fathers, one with his young daughter and one with his young son; a couple (guy and girl) about 25-30. We all seemed at ease with the instruction, requirements and lessons. Breathing under water with the equipment the first time was a unique experience. Movement in the water is slower and more cumbersome than I remembered from snorkeling. It was a great experience but I found all the requirements quite manageable. I told Lesel about the situation. She was very happy for me and suggested that we get together down south sometime with some friends. The boys are excited that I am learning something new.
Warren was very pleased and said that I told him some things about diving he did not know. Next class is on Tuesday. I have some reading to do and am looking forward to it. I have read the SCUBA instruction book all the way through and will reread it on Tuesday.
Cheryl and Darrel broke up on the weekend. She got very frustrated with his smothering and inability to express a personal opinion. She has to come to a realization that her demands are sometimes not realistic. She has such a high demand for excitement that it will challenge any relationship she has. I will have a coffee with her sometime in the future. We talked about golf but I do not think the weather will allow it.
The Debruyn deal came together this weekend and the Mitchell deal will be completed on Monday. The Yee deal fell apart; something I was expecting.
An out of town client asked me to create a design for their acreage home. I found some designs on the web page eplans. I will run them past John on Monday to see how and if we can make these adapt to the land and slope of the lot.
Warren said that Sally called to say that she was not feeling well and was canceling her yoga class.
I called Sheila to arrange a birthday supper in a couple of weeks. She will not be doing the newspaper column for the paper but will work on the editorial segment instead.
Terry and Mercy joined mom and me for lunch on Wednesday. They are busy dancing and had a good time at Henry’s daughter’s wedding.
Gillian is still unsettled about not being invited to Uncle Henry’s daughter’s wedding.
Sunday, Oct. 13. Sunny with strong breeze, +11
The week has gone by slowly.
Work was slow with the rough blue print for a client coming in on Friday. I dropped off the print for them and also the drawings and pictures for Brekkas, a new client
I purchased a small 35 mm camera so I could take pictures on the interior and exteriors of the homes we build.
The Brekkas dropped by on Saturday to comment on the house and look at the show home again. They are looking at different builders but we are in the running because of the personal service I am offering. Mitchell has not come back after our talk. He cannot seem to make a decision and is not moving ahead on anything.
The second lesson of the SCUBA course was great. The different activities are easy to accomplish and I am becoming comfortable with all that is asked of me. With all the equipment on I still cannot get out of the pool on my own. Oh well. We will have to do a swim and a water float in the fourth session, so I will have to get comfortable and get some instruction on how to do the float.
Odette suggested several different methods.
Played squash with a woman on Saturday morning before Warren made it to the court. It was enjoyable and I might show up early to do it again on Saturday mornings. The woman said that a group of women get together to play Saturday mornings; some of them might even be single.
Dana was given a very good birthday present when he heard that he was accepted into IATSE. This will happen in November. He will be getting some nice benefits and will be higher up on the hiring ladder. It should make for a better next year
Warren had contact with Jeff over the last week. Jeff physically collapsed and was in bed for a couple of weeks when Nora told him that she was not talking to him any more. Warren told him as much as he could to help him understand but Jeff did not seem to be able to understand the concept of total commitment to Victoria.
Hector had supper with Warren and me after the group meeting. We discussed Hector’s laid back attitude toward a job search and what was needed to be successful. I hope we were not too hard on him.
As Warren said –“Hector is lucky to have such good friends.”
The results for Peter’s medical tests have not come back in - which must mean that he is OK except for the stress in his life.
Cheryl and Darrel are back together again with a new visitation and living situation being worked out. We went golfing on Thursday for the last time this year. It was cool but we had fun. She has gained a awareness that she has control of her life and how she feels.
All for now.
Not feeling very well emotionally. I will be going to Warren’s for Thanksgiving supper on Monday.
Thanksgiving Monday was steady with a couple coming in who were committed to building a bungalow in the area. Some people who heard of the unique style of the showhome came thru to see home.
Got a call from Derek and Viola checking to see how I was feeling.
Sad times at the moment but day by day I will get through this. Have to check what was happening last year at this time.
Cory called a couple of days ago to say he was fine and had gone to Dana’s party. He sounded a little down but I was in no mood to cheer him up.
Saturday, Oct. 19, cloudy, rain, +12
This has been a busy week.
Dana’s birthday was on Tuesday, called him on Wednesday to chat a little. He was fine, taking the day off and was sleeping in. He will call this weekend I expect.
The third SCUBA class went well. The detached breathing lesson was not a problem. This week we have to do a swim and a ten minute float. I went to the pool with Warren last night and practiced the procedure. I feel the lesson will be OK. I will go again on Sunday to get more comfortable relaxing in the water.
Played squash with Warren twice this week with each of us winning a series.
Cheryl has been informed that the new owners were letting everyone go from the hotel and might be hiring a few back. She is supporting her staff and making the best of things. Nov. 15 is the termination date unless things change.
Made a couple of appointments with Dr. Tom; one for the Christmas dinner for the group on Dec. 5 and the other next Thursday to talk about the situation with Susan. I thought it was last Thursday but I checked the card and confirmed the time was not after the visit to the dentist, I am glad that it was not the same day. Still missing Susan, but in a more relaxed way.
I have been getting some interest from new clients on building homes in the area. I will have to contact them on Sunday if they do not come into the show home.
The Lesley deal is progressing nicely.
Derek and Viola are off to Finland on Wednesday to see their daughter and son-in-law for two weeks. He is looking forward to the trip and the time away, I told him to bring back something blond and Swedish for me.
I get to stay home tonight and watch some baseball, the first night home all week. Talk about being busy. The SCUBA stuff fills in the week. I am looking forward to going to the Caribbean and dive with Warren. The first time will be very exciting. We went out for a beer after swimming and had a great discussion about women and our lives.
Sunday, Oct 20, Drizzle, cloudy, + 4
Saturday was quiet with Cory calling to say all was OK except that he had a chest cold. He is making plans to be the best man for his buddy in Regina next week. The wedding has a medieval theme. He is excited about going. Work is starting to pick with his US client sending Cory more work. His thanksgiving dinner was fun at Margaret’s place.
Stayed home last night although I went out for coffee after watching the World Series game, San Fran won the first game over the Angels.
The Garage Showhome heater has not been hooked up yet and it is getting a little chilly with this damp weather. I will probably go over to the YMCA in the area and do some floating around in the water to get comfortable again. I will have to read the chapter on SCUBA and do the quiz to get ready for Tuesday. Cory said that Dana had gone out of town with Stephanie over the weekend for a family thing and that he was taking care of the cats and enjoying the Play Station that Dana had received for his birthday. It was nice of him to take care of Dana’s belongings.
Saturday, Oct 26, Clouds and sun +2
Day after my birthday; the big 54.
I enjoyed a very good day. Went swimming and got my stroke down for the lengths, then played Warren squash and tied him after 6 games.
Sheila took me out for a great supper and interesting conversation. When I picked her up I got to see Devlin again; he is growing into a complete young man.
I was up and down emotionally all week.
Played squash with Warren and Hector on Monday evening. We had some very competitive games.
Work is progressing well although the financing has not come in for the Debruyn’s yet. This should not be a problem.
The SCUBA lesson went well although I completely failed the swimming portion of the evening. I had to be rescued by an instructor after running out of air and power, trying to keep up to a young 24 year old fellow. That is me, who has no plan B but had enough sense to call for help. I was able to float for 10 minutes and since have been swimming several times, figured out how to do the swimming requirements and enjoy it. I will do more practicing over the next few weeks. I went out and bought myself some birthday gifts at the SCUBA store- a mask, a knife and a couple of items for Warren. He is off to Victoria for a week to promote his business.
I had the session with Dr. Joe on Thursday which turned out very well. He was able to explain some things and offer another look at why Susan is doing things and my responsibility in the whole situation. Susan is probably not even aware of the reason she is doing some things.
Cory called to say that the collection people called him for money for his student loan. He called and we discussed the different options available to him. He is off to Jeff’s wedding this week in Regina.
Gillian called last night to wish me a happy birthday but I missed both her phone calls. She was in a weepy mood and perhaps it was best that we did not speak.
I had lunch with Cynthia on Friday to catch up on her life and things. She is slowing down and managing her life better she says. She is not searching to provide available women that would be a good match for me.
Peter offered up a name of a woman that he and Georgette have decided would be compatible for me.
At the men’s group I shared my session with Dr. Joe which prompted Warren to say that he would make an appointment to see him as a mental health day.
I will try to get Dana and Cory to see Dr. Tom individually when they are in Edmonton sometime next year. I think it will do them good to be comfortable seeing someone when they have to.
Derek and Viola are in Finland since last Wednesday.
Sunday, Oct 27, Cloudy and cool +1
Susan, as a friend, took me out for a birthday supper last night; pleasant but awkward. Nothing I would recommend doing but her heart was in the correct place.
Cory called last night to wish me happy birthday and say that he was fine and enjoying himself in Regina.
Sheila had suggested that we go skiing together in the winter. How this would work I am not sure but we should discuss it later.
The Angels came back to win game six of the World Series and even the score three games each. They will play the final and seventh game tonight for the championship.
Saturday, Nov. 2, Sunny +6
The weather over the past few days have been quite grand. Indian summer, as they said before the politically correct days.
I have been swimming over the past few days to get ready for the swimming test on Tuesday after the exam. My plan is coming along well and I am learning how to swim in different ways so my confidence is greater.
Played squash with Warren this morning to a draw. He got back from Vancouver on Thursday for the group meeting. We had an enjoyable time discussing our feelings and the events in our lives. Everett passed on a book for Warren that was making sense to Everett. Warren said that Jeff was coming into town on Nov. 21 for a week and would stop in at the group.
I will not be back from Toronto in time to be at this meeting.
Mother and I went to the theatre last night. Strange plays but the time we spent together was enjoyable.
Susan might have liked it because it dealt with the Catholic Church and the teaching done by a nun. Susan probably knows more about that sort of thing than the nun anyway.
Gillian called to discuss my visiting arrangements and suggested that I stay at her place first and at the boys later. I said that it had been arranged with the boys for them first and I would put in an appearance at her place later. I was glad that I was able to say that and not feel bad.
I stopped in to see Nora at Grant Mac when I was leaving the swimming regime. She is working in the registrar’s office now. We chatted for a moment and then I went on my way. I reminded to her to call me. I will see what comes of it.
Cheryl and I had coffee at her hotel. Her last day at work will be Thursday. She had three interviews with a downtown Edmonton hotel and was going back for another one next week. She was quite confident that she will find a new position. Her relationship with Darrell is off again. She is creating a hectic life style that makes her feel in control.
The people at the theatre were average except one woman that was exceptional looking. Tall, long black hair dressed in a simple pair of slacks and a shirt; very striking. She was very pleasant to look at. If I had more confidence I would have said something to her, although I did come close enough to cross her path and exchange smiles; never have been good at breaking the ice. Have to keep practicing.
The money from my client will not come in till Wednesday now. Lawyers have to look at it and process the paperwork
Hopefully I will be able to get paid before I leave. Things certainly are slow here.
John was admitted to the hospital yesterday after a blood clot in his leg went up to his lungs. I will have to phone Chris and check up on his condition.
Sunday, Nov. 3- Wednesday, Nov. 6 Cloudy +6
The morning rain but has stopped now; the roads should dry off by the evening.
Well, the SCUBA training and exams were successfully completed last night. I have passed all the required items to do my open water test in May next year. The exam went well with only 3 wrong answers out of 50 questions. I did not read the words correctly on one question and did not remember the answers to 2 other questions. The swimming went well with the pacing that I imposed on myself. Each student finished off the course with small items they had not been done during the 5 week course. The weeks went by quickly and everyone is quite comfortable with being in the water.
I am ready for the trip tomorrow to Toronto to see my sons and sister, Gillian. They sound well over the phone and are looking forward to seeing me.
Gillian had phoned and is arranging my schedule in her city.
Cheryl was offered a new job as a banquet coordinator at a city hotel and is starting on Tuesday. She will be taking me to the airport in the morning.
I will be calling Sharon when I am in Toronto to ask her for coffee to catch up on what is happening. I will contact her by email to allow her the chance to say no without talking to me directly. She is in a photo of the staff and managers at the Research center in Waterloo. Still looks the same as we all do. I expect I do wish to see the changes that have occurred.
The traffic for the homes is slow but not unusual for this time of year.
John is still in the hospital on blood thinners and will be released on Friday. He will be taking blood thinning pills for 6 months to come.
Not much more to write. I am sure there is more but emotionally I chose not to make them real by putting them to paper.
I got through October by being busy with the SCUBA stuff and now I am into November and December; the festive times of the year. Things should move along quickly with all the women that the guys, Peter and Dana, are arranging for me.
Saturday, Nov. 23, Cloudy, -4
The past two weeks in Toronto have been quite the experience.
Dana and Stephanie meet me in the airport. She is a very nice young, aggressive woman, suited to Dana. We drove to Dana’s place and met Cory who was waiting for us. Margaret, Cory’s girlfriend, was not able to come for supper with us that night, she was not feeling well. I spent most of my time sleeping over at Cory’s place and visiting with Dana.
Cory and Margaret had me over for supper one night and then we went to the Club where she dances. I got a taste and a feeling of the Goth night club scene which they are involved in; Margaret more that Cory. Spent one on one time with Cory when he showed me where he bikes and travels during his spare time. Dana was not working but showed me where he does his wall climbing with Stephanie.
The games that Cory and Dana play on their computers are quite fascinating and all the rage at the moment. “Max Payne”, a detective scenario, is Cory’s game which I can get and play on my computer. “Grand Theft Auto” is Dana’s birthday present which can be played on the X box units.
Drove down to Listowel to see the countryside where Sheila grew up so I had to pass through Waterloo and Kitchener.
I was able to leave a message for Sharon when I passed through Kitchener the first time. Because there was no response after a day, I called back to her secretary to be sure she received my message. She chooses not to make contact; keeping to her statement that she was no longer going to talk with me. I am saddened by this response but do understand it. Very little would come of a brief meeting except confusion and sadness.
Contacted Bill Walsh, my previous flight instructor, and spent a couple of days in London with him. He was able to arrange a flight in a new aircraft they use for instruction. It is a gem of a plane. The Flight instructor that took me up was a superb pilot.
The brunch that Gillian had on Sunday for Simon, Kati, the boys and girlfriends was delicious but was disrupted by Jason and his antics. He made a mess of the girls’ weekend the following week when he was out of control again. I had a good chat with Kati with what was happening in Simon and their lives at the moment.
On Monday, I moved back to Gillian’s place to sleep over. Spent a couple of days talking with her about her lifestyle and what she was doing and wanted to do, if anything.
On Wednesday evening, went out for supper with Val, longtime friend of Gillian, and Gillian to a nice Greek place and talked about what was happening in Val’s life.
Meet Cory and Dana for lunch on Thursday before I flew back to Edmonton.
The Air Canada desk agent was able to route me straight through to Edmonton.
Friday was spent catching up at the office, making a few phone calls, grocery shopping and just relaxing.
The financing for Debruyn is still not complete but the paper process is continuing.
John is out of the hospital and getting around but is taking it slow.
Played squash with Warren on Saturday morning.
Ron and Cindy his girlfriend were in attendance for a couple quick squash games.
It was apparent, by our awkwardness, that we have not been playing squash for a few weeks.
Warren is going to Vancouver on Tuesday or Monday.

A Hot and Sweaty Summer
Wednesday, June 26, +33 sunny
The week continues to be very hot with no rain till Saturday.
Squash was good with Warren on Monday, although he won the games because his guests from Holland were watching and he felt compelled to do so.
Pat T. came by to pick up the floor plan for her home; she will be back with her husband on the weekend. Raj continues to call to set a time for a meeting on Friday to keep things moving along.
Gillian got on the plane Monday and is back in Toronto. I will have to call her to make sure she is OK. Susan is going on her kayaking trip next week.
I will have some time to golf next week; possibly with Cheryl.
I had lunch with Steve N on Tuesday to see how he was doing. Still the same old confusion in his life. He is not doing anything enjoyable at the job but he feels that having a place to go to, is better than anything else. We are to go flying in the next week or so.
Sunday, June 30, windy and some clouds+22
Thundershowers with steady rain in the evening are forecast.
Finally some moisture for this area, even tho it did not extend very far east. The moisture was a welcome relief. Traffic was slow but with some units in the works everything is ok. Raj came in on Friday to meet with John and I to fine tune the final plans. He went away happy and will get back to us on Monday. Pat T is to come in today with her husband but what she actually does is yet to be decided. Mrs. Powers called today to come have a look at Andy’s home. She said they will come in today or Monday which is a holiday. The lots still have not been released across the way but the time is getting closer. I have had two people come in and ask about when we will have information on the lots. Soon, there will be more sales.
Susan is leaving on Tuesday for the coast.
I was going to go golfing with Cheryl but she said work has become a little busy so we will postpone it. Gillian called and left a message that mom had hung up on her when she called. A 2 A.M. call from Gillian?
Cory said that he was up north with his girl and would call tonight.
I went golfing at Barrhead on Thursday. I was with three older fellows who golfed in the high 70’s. What a lesson I received from them about golfing. The hot weather was very difficult and I am still tired but feeling a little better.
I had coffee with Shirley on Friday. She looks very good and has really enjoyed the time in Toronto but is glad to be back and in the slower paced Edmonton. She enrolled Devin, her son, into summer hockey because he asked. She is a very good mother and is doing very well in that role. We talked only a little about our personal lives. Do not know what she did or who she met when she was in Toronto. She said that she got to know her sisters better during the time in Toronto.
Mother seems a little off at the moment. I would expect that she is feeling lonely and does not want to show it. She said we would do lunch in a week and a half. OK by me.
Dana called last week but I have not heard from him since then.
Hector showed up for squash on Saturday morning. He played well and was able to beat me in a set. The kids are gone with their mother for three weeks and he is feeling a little lonely. I expect he will be showing up for squash more often now. He is going to get some better equipment and a tensor bandage for his arm before Monday when we play again.
Susan is far away in her own busy land and is spending time doing things that are important to her. At the moment we are not spending too much time together. I am ok with it and am not focusing on these moments. Saturday night we were to go out but she was so tired from attending a funeral and all, that she took a nap. She was sleeping so soundly that I did not have the heart to wake her up. I took Dusty, the dog, for a walk and then went home.
Still have not heard from her today.
Perhaps later.
Sunday, July 7, Sunny, small windy, +27
The weather has turned nice again after some cool weather with scattered showers. Some rain is coming from the West Coast tomorrow.
Pat T. came by with her husband on Saturday to finalize the contents of the house and sign off on all the paper. She will drop by before Thursday with a checque for the 10%. The blue prints will be ready by the time I get back from holidays. Raj met with me on Wednesday to finalize the blue print and will drop off a cheque this week. John has sent the paper to get the blue prints ready.
Susan was off on Tuesday to do her kayaking. We talked a little about the lack of time we were spending together. Nothing much we can do about it at the moment. I will try not to be too needy. I am picking her up next Saturday. She has not called. I expect she is still on the water with her companions.
Hector got word from his employer that his job is being eliminated as of Sept 1. He had a little difficulty with it in the beginning but is working his way through it. We are giving him all the emotional support and suggestions that we can. His new girlfriend is helping also.
Cory and Dana are fine. They are working at their pace and are comfortable with what is happening. Dana said he was having a meeting with a producer for the production that is to occur in Sask. during the fall. It would be a confidence booster if he was able to do the production.
Cory is in a good mood with the new lady in his life. Sound good.
The new lot information is still not available for my clients but will be ready for the end of the month. If they came sooner I would have to get busy with the new deals that I would put together.
I talked to Derek and have arranged to meet with him on Wednesday in Fairmont to go golfing. With his invitation to go down and spend some time with him in BC I am a little disappointed that it will only be for one day. The time and terms of the invitation change more than one realizes.
I golfed with Cheryl on Friday and another couple. They worked for Investors Group; she was an accomplished golfer and played well. Cheryl did very well considering how busy she is with the new boss at work and the renovation to her back yard.
Her father, Terry is helping. He has arranged to have some of his friends, who are experienced in back yard renovations help for a couple of days. They are pouring cement on Tuesday.
I may show up if I have a few extra minutes. Cement bull work is not something I want to do much of.
Warren has asked me to come over for a BBQ in the evening. I will show up with some wine and ice cream.
My eyes have been giving me problems over the past few days. I am using eye drops although the results are questionable. The solution seems to be soaking and them washing them out every morning. The crud build up irritates the eyes throughout the day and is quite frustrating. I will have to keep at it.
Everett was at the group meeting on Thursday. His 25 year wedding anniversary is this month. He has made no definite plans to celebrate this event on a personal level with Louise. There is to be a large gathering of the family and friends but he cannot seem to bring himself to make plans for the two of them.
Wednesday, July 10, hot +31 clear, some wind
Finished lunch with mother, she was in a good talkative mood. We discussed Gillian and all her long term held anger.
The massage with Odette was very relaxing today. She found some bunched up muscles that she worked on and made better. She had a small accident that totaled her car and she is now in the process of getting a new one. She is in a good place in her mind but is a little uncomfortable feeling so relaxed.
Cory called to say that he is well and enjoyed watching the Word Series professional car races in Toronto. Susan called to confirm that her kayaking was fabulous, weather, people, place and attitude. She said that she would call later this week. It was good to hear from her.
The BBQ at Warren’s place was quite relaxing and it was pleasant to sit around with Sally, Hector and Warren talking about our past experiences.
Bob and Shirley, Warren’s friends from BC, dropped by at the evenings end. It was nice to put a face and experience to the names that Warren had mentioned.
I dropped by to see Cheryl’s work on her concrete patio. Terry, Lawrence and Daryl working to complete the project. I brought some donuts just to give them a break. Cheryl was helping out doing some of the concrete work.
The rain stayed away so the project was finished without any imperfections.
Sunday, July 14, Saturday, July 13, hot- hot-hot, +34 some clouds
Record heat temperatures have been enveloping Alberta during the past week, no rain and to dry for anything to grow.
Watched some golf at Glendale Golf Course. The Alberta Open, an amateur golf competition while cooking in the sun, the golf was great and it was an education to watch. Went golfing on Friday with Ray and had a good game.
Saturday I went to work after playing squash with Warren and Hector.
Ron, Warren’s friend, from Fort Mac was down to visit. His game is coming back but he is out of shape. He is not as good a player as he thinks he is. Hector is getting better.
Hector has some interviews this coming week with potential employers. He is quite excited. He managed to bother Judith, his current girlfriend, so much that she is slowing down the interaction between the two of them. They met 6 times in 3 weeks. Now she wants to be friends. Hector is quite frustrated. Oh well.
I learned that Arlene’s mother is not well. I left a message of concern. I felt it was the right thing to do. I should tell mother if I have a chance. We will have to go to the funeral.
Derek called to say we would talk on Tuesday to set up a golf game with he and his son in laws in Fairmont.
Susan is arriving home tonight and I will pick her up at the airport. It will be nice to see her again.
Traffic is slow because of the hot weather.
Raj and Kari came in to get the blue prints and he is spending time over them looking for ways that we can take advantage of him he feels. He is not a very trusting person. He is trying to make decisions for the both of them. He feels happy thinking he is in charge, I suppose.
Sunday, July 21/ cloudy/ sunny, some wind, +23
Well, what a week.
Just got back from holidays on Saturday morning.
I worked during the day although it was very slow. Irving called to talk a little and fill me in on the week. John met with Raj. He then talked to a couple that I sent in, that were interested in building on an acreage. I will talk with John on Monday to catch up.
The golfing was fantastic. The weather was hot+35 all week. I managed to get in 5 games in four days; 3 games at Kananaskis, one game with Derek and son in laws in Fairmont and one by myself at Eagle Ranch near Radium. The courses were very challenging but I managed to shoot a consistent 12 - 15 over par throughout the week, whether it was the first game or the last. Eagle Ranch had greens that were hardwood surface to them. It was a pleasure to putt on them. The gorges that we had to hit over were very beautiful and challenging. The people I golfed with from Montreal, New York, Calgary and Edmonton were a pleasure to golf with. The total week was a great experience with not having to worry about money and what things cost.
I spent an afternoon with Derek and family at a swimming pool after the golfing. Derek’s four young granddaughters are an energy source that does not stop. Scott and Anya are going to Finland for a year so he can play professional hockey. Things have turned out nicely for them. They made some money on their house and sold most of their furniture.
My car is fixed and I will pick it up on Monday.
I spent some time with Susan last night and gave her the birthday gift that came in while I was away.
Cory called last night to chat. Things are well with him. He has found out that his girlfriend has an allergy to pine wood and cannot go hiking with him in the mountains. He is quite disappointed but will work his way through it. He will come back to Alberta in the future because he loves the outdoors so much.
Dana sent an e mail requesting Lesel’s contact numbers today. I will talk to him later today or tomorrow.
I should book a session with Odette for the sore muscles that have invaded my body today. I will see how I feel later on in the week.
I missed the men’s session this last week. Peter will be back from his holidays and Hector will have been to his several meetings with potential employers.
I will call mother to arrange a lunch date later this week.
Cheryl and I will have to get together and arrange a golf game soon. I know that Ray M has arranged a game for us next Friday.
The accommodation at Radium Resorts was very nice and I expect that I will return to spend more time there. The whole valley is very beautiful and offers a great many things to do. I would like to golf Eagle Ranch and Trickle Creek with Derek in the future when we have the time.
The air conditioning in the rental car was a blessing and helped get through the week. It was nice to get into a cool car and just drive around. The nap I took in the car on the way back from Trickle Creek let me golf at Eagle Ranch later on in the day without having to go back to my hotel room.
Tuesday, July 23 +30, sunny
The two cheques for Raj and Thomas were dropped off at the office; so the deals are complete.
Carol, the receptionist at the office, came back to work for a few hours, she is still suffering from sinus infections.
John, Chris and I talked about selling the Cascade immediately and moving me to Fort. Sask. starting Aug. They have some lots with another builder there and some lots that are exclusive to Rock Solid. These are lane lots with a lower selling point, $165,000 which includes lot, house and GST. These are starter homes for the younger set. If the lots do not become available in Potter Greens from Melcor soon, then there will be no reason to stay here. It should be lucrative for a while.
Irving would keep this house open on the weekends. The company would pay for some of the time. The drive would be longer but it would be ok for a while.
My income is pleasantly substantial up to this point. The income tax will have to be paid in quarterly installments and the GST is up to about 3K. I will have to manage the money and put as much as possible in RRSP’s. I will have to talk to Derek and open up an account in Manulife to get some play on the interest rate of 2%.
Dana called last night and was in a good mood with some work this week and possibly next week. He said the plan to go to Sask. is coming together nicely. He is talking a little more grown up and says that he has learned a great deal over the past six months. He is either learning what to say to me or he is getting more mature.
Warren was working on some consulting work yesterday and could not make the squash game.
Hector came out and played a game before he hurt his shoulder. He is going to take some time off with his kids and rest and recuperate from his injuries.
Wednesday, 24
Meet with Derek to set up Manulife bank account and change PAC bank account numbers.
I talked with Chris who had heard from Melcor that the lots would not be available for this year. I will be moving to Fort Sask. at the end of the month. Irving will take over the house on the weekends.
Saturday, July 27, raining +20
Golfed on Friday morning with Ray M but it started raining and we were only able to do 9 holes. I got a rain check for another round of golf. The rain has continued over night and into this morning.
Susan has been busy. We had lunch on Thursday but she was busy with Ann and then Luke and Amanda on Friday night. I am feeling troubled with this lack of togetherness but am able to get past it.
Played squash with Ron and Warren on Saturday. Ron certainly does get angry when things do not go his way.
Hector was with his children this weekend.
I had a phone call from Brian and Christal stating they were coming in to work on the bungalow with the master bedroom in the basement.
Warren said he would drop by with his sister this afternoon.
Peter’s son Eric, is in hospital with an infection that the doctors are having trouble controlling. It would be tragic if anything should happen to him. Their marriage would not survive.
I talked to Gillian on Thursday night. She is not in a good place at the moment. Very tired and I think, drinking too much. She was almost incoherent when she called back to talk. Val, her friend, had gone home after they had been drinking all evening. Jason had been over to cook dinner and was sleeping on the couch. He has been over almost every day to have dinner, although he is cooking, Gillian said. Simon is working on a small project. The dog is with Gerry, Jason’s ex girlfriend, to the displeasure of Gillian.
The Pope’s visit will be over this weekend which means that some more movies will start production in Toronto so Dana and Cory will be able to get a substantial amount of work.
If it does not, they will have to deal with the consequences.
Sunday, Aug 4, cloudy, windy and cool. +15
The week has gone by quickly. It has been cool and raining all week. A steady downpour on Thursday, Friday with scattered showers on Saturday. Too late for this year’s crops but will help the grass situation for the cattle and pastures and the crops for next year. Tough times for the farming community.
I have not heard from the boys this week but I sense everything was good and the work was coming together. Dana said that he was going to the cabin in Manitoba with his girl. We have sent some e mails back and forth.
Susan has been busy all week with her friends and we spent the evening together last night. Went out for supper, played some tile games and went for a walk.
Holly spent an evening in the hospital this week; something to do with her pregnancy but all is OK now. She is seven months along but is comfortable with this one. Jason is making time for her and creating a nice balance in their lives.
I moved to the Fort Sask. show home on Saturday and am getting settled in during the week. The traffic is greater and different. Lower price point so more potential customers. Our Red Showhome is becoming well known and is drawing amount of local attention. I have had two good leads come around. One from out of town and one from in town. I am cleaning up a lot of the paper work that was left over from the Sherwood Park Showhome. It will take a week to get settled in and create the atmosphere that I want. The wall pictures have not arrived. John said he would be bringing them later this week.
I spent some time with mother and saw that her TV was in good shape and will not need replacing. I will have to call Terry and let him know.
Shirley and I had coffee to catch up on her activities. She had Devin in a hockey school for a week and is enjoying the experience. Her focus, more than ever, is on Devin and her life, not on her work. She has a better understanding the balance that is needed. We talked about our friendship and how important it is us. She is a lot more up front in asking questions about what I am doing in my relationships to other women. It is nice to have her clarity in my life.
Warren has sent his guests home and now will get back to a quieter life style. He had a good time with his sister and brother in law. They went fishing several times and enjoyed the experience.
Susan is getting more focused on Mathew and the new baby that is coming, baby clothes and all that. Her friends are getting more involved in her life now that she is in the middle of town. It is nice for her.
Hector is with his kids camping this week.
Peter and Linette in Manitoba. Everett sat in with me on Thursday and chatted about property acquisition for an income concept. He is moving along but still unsure of how to relate to Louise in a non working environment.
I will have to talk to Gillian soon to see how she is doing.
Cheryl has given notice at her job and will be moving on in about a month. She has everything working well and no longer feels a challenge. The work on her back yard has progressed well and is just about complete.
I will have to drop by and see what it looks like.
Monday, Aug. 5 cloudy, raining, windy + 12
Dana called last night to say that they were in Manitoba at his mother’s cabin since Thursday. They drove 24 hours through the States to get the cabin. Had a good time and are enjoying the quiet and darkness. They will be going back in a week. Dana said that several films are starting and he has already worked several days last week. He is feeling quite good about everything. He said that Cory was flying to Atlanta for a small holiday and then flying back up to the cabin and taking a bus back to Toronto.
Had supper with Susan and Mathew last night and then back to my place for a quiet evening and a good sleep.
Thursday, Aug. 8
Had a good sleep last night and woke up late. The weather has turned sunny, breezy and warm. Chris and I met this morning to discuss moving to the new Showhome.
I made an appointment with a client to show a home they were interested in building. They seem very interested in the house and are in the price range.
Cheryl called to go golfing on Friday.
Derek wants to golf in the morning.
I am at the show home on Thursday and will miss the mens’ meeting.
Warren said that Jeff called to suggest that he will be at the meeting.
Mother and I had a pleasant lunch. She said that Gillian is working and still tired. Jason is making dinner and eating at her place.
I have not heard from Cory for a few days.
Getting to know the traffic in this place will take a few weeks. I would expect that as soon as the people get to know us and inspect us enough times they will start to come in and start dealing on some homes. There certainly seems to be a great interest in building homes this late in the season.
Ray said that Arlene left he job over a dispute with the board. She is usually so careful in not creating a confrontation and being able to work through any concerns that the board had. After her work experience with the Status of Woman’s council she should have been well trained. OH well.
Monday, Aug. 12, sunny, breezy +23
Dana got back from his holiday in Manitoba; they took their time going back and enjoyed themselves. The final bill came in for his teeth; $700. He said that the work should be starting soon and he is looking forward to it. His cats survived his being away.
I called Gillian who said she is working hard finding locations for an infomercial for Canada Savings bonds. Jason was over cooking supper again. She is not questioning what he is doing. Cory is Ok Dana says. He talked with him for a short period of time.
I cooked supper for Susan on Saturday.
Holly had her birthday dinner at Susan’s on Sunday. She is doing well and the baby is fine. Jason is spending time watching sports but being supportive.
I went golfing with Derek at Elk Island on Friday; we had a good time. I spotted him 12 strokes on 12 holes and he beat me by two holes.
John had a good meeting with Hatches from Fort Mac after I set up a meeting for them on Sunday. They were in to see me after meeting me 3 weeks ago at the Cascade. They are interested in an expanded Cascade for a lot in Lakeshore that they own. They will be sending in the information on the lot and their wish list. John is on holidays for a week and then will start working on the house.
A client called to say that they had put an offer on a used home and wanted to have the name of an inspector to satisfy the condition they put on it. It will renovate well is what he said. I do not think they know what they are getting into- but what do I know.
The traffic at the show home is constant with a younger crowd of 30+ people looking to get into a newer home. The family is growing and they are looking to expand.
Sunday, Aug. 18, sunny, +23 calm
The weather has calmed down since all the rain and windy conditions during the week. Traffic has been steady this week.
I took some of Thursday off to go to the men’s group. It was raining in Fort Sask. so no one was around.
Peter had made an offer on a used home with an inspection condition on it. After Everett and the inspector looked at the house and found a sloping floor, Peter decided not to go through with the deal. He expressed the feeling that a great deal of stress was associated with the whole transaction.
Warren and I thought it was for the best that they not get the house and renovate it. Peter and family are on a ten day trip to Manitoba and will not have to deal with the stress involved.
Warren and I played squash a couple of times and are having even games.
Susan and I went out to a show with Fred and Susan. We caught up on their trip to Victoria and all the excitement that they had. Fred was explaining about all the difficulties that they encountered. Susan was commenting on how difficult Fred made the trip. No trips for a while for those two. Susan was tired from a hard week, so I dropped her off to get her car and went home. I had a feeling that I should park on the long street but choose to park on the side street. Overnight someone threw a beer bottle that glanced off the car door and broke the driver’s mirror. I will have to get a new mirror and install it myself. The car door was scratched but otherwise it was all right. I got a little angry but it was just some drunk being stupid, not much I can do. I am getting frustrated living in this area with all the car damage that has occurred. It is a good reason to move, but my lease just started.
Derek has expressed an interest in living in a two bedroom on the occasional nights that he is in town. I will have to look into the condos and rental on the south side of the river looking north. I will see if any are for sale or they just rent out. It would have a great view, be closer to work.
Dana sent some interesting photos of a bear that was on set where he working. I asked for further info and he said that he would get back to me. He seems to be working - which is a good thing.
Cory will call soon.
Fred said that Ryan will be getting married in Montreal next year.
John and his daughter dropped by on Saturday to have a look at the house. He is still on holidays till Monday, although people have been calling him.
Overall things are good. I have been eating more salad and greens during the week. It seems to make things a little lighter for the body and really has no down side. I will have to pick up some more on the way home and use up the dressing that is in the fridge before it goes bad.
The international girls’ soccer playoffs are in Edmonton this week. I will have to take in a couple games in if it is possible.
Hector continues to apply for jobs and is in good spirits about the whole thing. He has been spending some time with his kids and is trying to be aware of how they communicate and relate to each other and him. He has come up with some interesting incites into their behavior. His parents are coming out for a week and bringing back his older child that has spent a week at a tennis camp in Toronto.
Sunday, Aug. 25, Sunny and Hot +32
The weather has been exceptionally hot over the past few days. A great air mass has moved in and planted itself in the area.
I went flying on Friday evening for 3 hours and had beautiful weather. I expected the flight to be bumpy but it was very smooth. Flew out to Barrhead, Westlock, Two Hills, Veg and the checked out the Northern Bear golf course to see how it looked from the air. It was great flying again.
I tried to get in the Trapper’s ball game but went to the Fringe instead. Ate a whole bunch of things and felt good about it.
Saturday traffic was good with Janell calling to make an appointment to talk about a new home in Lewis Estates. Layton and Karen made an offer that I wrote up on Sunday for the Lewis Estates Showhome. It is very low but after talking to John I wrote it up to move the process along. She really likes the home and he does also but is starting the bidding very low.
Some other local traffic is starting to take an interest in the homes and lots in this area.
Sharon wants to talk about a small Pinehurst in this area. She will be back next week to look at the plans we have for the unit we are building in Leduc. Another couple people are looking at the starter homes in the area.
Susan and I went to the Blue’s festival at Hawrelak Park, The sounds were great. We met Irene and Ann, Susan’s friends, while we were at the park. We went for a coffee after. Susan had a cortisone shot for her arm because of the ache in it. (Tennis elbow.) She is still battling with her mouse in the house. The mouse is winning. She is buying more traps and door blocks.
Bob and Louise were at her place after the fringe shows. I stuck around and had pizza with them. Bob talked about building a spec home and selling it next year. I will have to talk with Susan about how serious he is.
The mens’ group did not meet last week because everyone was busy or away on holidays. Warren is busy doing his proposals for work and his program. Hector was with his kids, Peter was in Manitoba, Everett was at work and I could not miss work two Thursdays in a roll.
Dana called to say things were going better but he would like to arrange to get his license back and that will cost him some money. He has been getting some calls to drive and has had to decline because he has no license. All he has to do is pay the tickets and he will get them back.
I was a little anxious about not selling the Cascade but managed to put the feeling in the correct place and not sweat the fact that I did not write the fellow from Fort Sask. Layton, I wrote but the negotiations will be long. What else is new?
The counter offer to Layton was not successful. They did not want to spend that much, although she called to say that they were still interested in building a home on the new lots across the golf course. That was very nice of them.
I went golfing with Darrell and Cheryl this morning. Lovely day and we were finished in three hours. I golfed poorly but I was paying more attention to her game than to mine. Darrell golf’s well but his short game is not very good. I tried out my new 60% wedge and it works just fine. A little more practice and I will be able to do great things with it.
Dana called to say that he got his license back and can drive again legally. He was happy about it and said he would put it to good use. I missed Cory’s call last night but I will send him an e mail later.
Traffic is slow tonight; must be something else happening in town. John met with Thomas today to continue the blue print. I have a meeting with Janell and Norman on Saturday at the west end to do up the contract for their new home, I feel.
Sept. 1, Sunday. Cloudy +16
I meet with Janell and Norman at the LE Show home and did up the agreement for the blue prints after they looked and accepted the price for his new home.
Sharon Ferguson’s parents came in and put a hold on a lot next door for her. She will be in on Tuesday to talk about what she wants in a new home. Things are moving along with her intentions.
We did some advertising for the Fort. Sask. Showhome and Starter homes. We have had a few inquiries in the new home.
The LE Show home was sold by a realtor this last week. My offer from Layton was not accepted. Irving will move to this unit on Thursdays starting this week.
Susan came over with Mathew to see the show home. She did not go golfing but did not say why. Mathew was shy. Holly and Jason came over to look at the home this week. Holly is looking good and healthy and quite pregnant. Spent the evening with Susan, went for a walk and watched a movie. Did not spend the night because she was not feeling well. I am a little frustrated by the lack of intimacy but not sure if I am confused with what I want or what is going on. She is very friendly and close but seems to be a little confused with something. I am a little frustrated but not sure on how to proceed. I will let it continue and play itself out. We will talk later today and see if there are any answers.
Sent e-mails to the boys but have not heard back to much. It would seem that they are busy and involved with work, their lives and women. The work was coming along. Dana got his driver’s license and is excited about the situation.
Golfing on Friday at the Leduc location was fun. It is a good course and I will go back next week and play the course a little more intelligently.
It was fun golfing with Darrel and Cheryl on Wednesday although she did get a little angry with the way she was playing. She is trying too hard and will have to play more or get some instruction to help her out. I should get her to check out her clubs and such to see if it will improve her game.
Sunday, Sept 8 Sunny and warm, +21
I have the day off. Irving is working today instead of last Thursday. I had an appointment with Al B to continue creating his home in Sherwood Park. He came with his wife Barb and brought some plans to help us design a home. I am glad he did. I missed the group meeting which was interesting but I was caught up by Warren on Saturday and then by Hector on Sunday when we had coffee.
I went to Leduc to try and golf but it was busy so I drove to the Northern Bear, had brunch, quite lovely and then back to Edmonton.
Hector called and we had coffee. He was telling me about his interviews and his new volunteer job with a crisis center. A long time lady friend called him to get him involved in the helping of people in the time of crisis and transition. He is quite excited. His story about the interview process for the sales position was interesting. He is convinced that he is a sales person and can do well and be hired for the position. He might be able to learn his way into this area but will not be a good long term and successful salesperson .Susan is getting more confused and unsettled about what she wants in life. We had a good discussion about what was happening on Saturday night. She was able to explain to me her confusion about our relationship. She is not comfortable with the sexual end of our relationship because she neither wants to marry me or live with me. Her catholic upbringing is not allowing her to sleep with me. She wants to distance herself and has been doing it over the last month, shades of a previous relationship. My frustration then has been partly mine and partly hers. Because of her statements our relationship, as we had it, has come to an end. What it will be in the future, I do not know. Probably very little.
Her bouncing back and forth is not good for my emotions. I would rather have her out of the picture and be able to have no expectations then have her around and be confused. The statement that I made to myself that I would probably not be around for Luke’s wedding will be true. To see her under completely changed circumstances is a waste of time.
Shirley will be able to fill in as a friend without the confusion of what our relationship is.
I have no idea what Susan’s family will say or suggest but it will be of no consequence to her nor should it be. It is her decision and direction in life that is important to her.
Dana called last night and was in a good mood. We talked about his birthday wishes and what he was doing with Stephanie. He is sending his list on the email, which I have not opened yet. I have missed connecting with Cory over the past few days but left a message for him.
Attended the funeral of a pilot I knew who was a flight instructor at the flying club. Steve was there and we sat together. He flew into the trees in the rain and clouds as he was landing to deliver some passengers up north. No reasons have been given yet because the investigation has just started. It should not have happened. He was an expert pilot but perhaps he pushed too much. He was a great person and will be missed.
Sales continue well with discussions with many clients. Ferguson has not come in yet because he is ill but all the others are going well. The previous Show home sold. Shuster and I will be meeting on Thursday to talk about building a Cascade on the golf course lot. Peter and Linette are getting bent of shape about not getting service from Carlton and do not like Hillview in the Properties of Donsdale. I expect they are too demanding and unfocused.
